adminbaberuth Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Who will be our 4 teams in the playoffs and what order?Ned 9-1 ...Central (Laird)-Liv (Bellow)-Vidor (Laird)-Lum (Bellow)PNG 8-2....Vid (Reyenga)-Lum (Sweet)-Ozen (Reyenga)-Central (Sweet)Vidor 8-2...PNG (Hester)-LCM (Hagler)-Nederland (Hester)-Livingston (Hagler)LCM 6-4.....Liv (Smith)-Vidor (Waddell)-Lumberton (Smith) -Ozen (Waddell)Livingston 5-5....LCM-Nederland-Central-Vidor
Big Stick Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 I would not be surprised if Vidor did not save Hester for LCM!Hagler started in their last meeting and LCM won .If Vidor loses to PNG they must beat LCM or they will be tied.If LCM beats Livingston. If I am not mistaken they still have NED. also.IMO
eknights88 Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 and lcm has the much easier road. vidor still has png and ned left.
Big Stick Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Thats is exactly what I am thinking. You still cant count Livingston out.Anything can happen.
NHS83LU87 Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 As a fan you always want to believe your team is the best......As a coach making the playoffs is job 1....Coach Green has to ask himself 1.) Does he believe the Pirates will absolutely beat both Nederland and PNG if he pitches Hester? 2.) If he doesn't think the Pirates will beat both of them, then does he believe it is more important to ensure himself at least a tie for the third seed with LCM and knock Livingston out of the hunt? Ned hit Hester but struggled against Armstrong. Pirates at that time were not hitting or playing defense very well. That may have changed. Green is pretty sly and uses his pitchers well. He'll make the best decision to help his team going into the playoffs.

So Nederland and Vidor have clinched playoff spots and the worst PNG could do is tie for 4th with Livingston or LCM(highly unlikely that they lose with the easiest remaining schedule). Magic number for LCM to clinch is 2(2 wins by LCM; 1 win by LCM and a loss by Livingston; 2 losses by Livingston). Friday: Will the four playoff teams for 20-4A be decided with only seeding left to be determined...Can LCM clinch at least the 4th seed by taking Vidor a 2nd time and having Nederland take Livingston? Can't wait for Friday!!!

It looks like you could save him and have them both available (Bellow and Laird) for Vidor.
463 DP Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 I know that the district will play next Monday (4-26) due to TAKS. Can anyone confirm game times on any of the district games? I would assume they play early but I haven't seen anything set in stone.
Guest JoesBros Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Nederland @ Vidor will be a 4:30 start
ForeverADog Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Nederland I don't think will lose any of their last 3. And to answer the previous question why not save Bellow for vidor? Mt answer is simply because Laird has a ton of talent as well and can shut down the pirates hopefully like he shut down PNG. So why screw up their rotation that they are now used too?
Guest JoesBros Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Thats where Nederland is lucky I think. To have two ace's in your starting rotation and both of them being lefties.
ForeverADog Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Exactly JoesBros. And hopefully these 2 will carry us far into early june! Btw I see Vidor being district runner up tying PNG but the pirates hold the tie breaker.

Btw I see Vidor being district runner up tying PNG but the pirates hold the tie breaker. [/quote]The year after Nederland got knocked out of playoffs due to head to head with LCM, I was told the tie breaker was changed to be a play-in/seeding game. Is this true or is the tie breaker still head to head?IMO Bellow is 20-4A MVP and Laird is 1st Team Pitcher this year. Laird has stood out and has proven he can pitch against any team. I don't understand why he hasn't been signed yet. No need to change the rotation. If Nederland's bats stay hot, Bellow will only need to pitch 2-3 innings(no more than a routine bullpen) against Livingston before the coach could comfortably go to the very deep bullpen(Pitts, Smith, Brown, Raines, Brady, and Cardenas). Bellow would then be available for relief if needed monday. Great position to be in!

No matter if one team beat the other twice already or not.
midcountymadness Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Below is MVP............ UNLESS!!!!!!!!Vidor beats LCM and then Nederland throwing Hester, then Ozen.If both finish at 10-2 and Co-Champions,Then it is a Co-MVP I would bet.
midcountymadness Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 I would also like to add, that I do not see that happening. (for numerous reasons)
The Real McCoy 12 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 if the standings in 20-4a and 19-4a stay like they are now what would the playoff matchups look like can someone help out with this or is it number 1 seed from 20-4a plays 19-4a 4 seed and 20-4a 2 seed plays 19-4a 3 seed and so forth
