Guest Burkeville Chronicle Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 The President of the school board at Burkeville, Texas is a former Negro League baseball player who played in the 40's and 50's for the Homestead Grays and the Newark Eagles. His knowledge of baseball and the history of baseball is amazing. What this man has seen and the players he has played with and against (Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, "Cool Papa" Bell) is unmatched. He is a true testament of class and character. On behalf of the 2010 Burkeville Mustangs baseball club we would like to thank Mr. Lacy for the support that he has shown our ballclub this year. You are one of a kind sir, and we salute you with every fiber of our bodies. Thanks again!!!

Guest checkmate Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 He is a former coach in Burkeville and Kountze I believe. You are right Chronicle, he is a true class act. I also heard that he was a teacher for 50 years! They just dont make em like Mr. Lacy anymore.
