adminbaberuth Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 By RYAN S. CLARKApril 29, 2010Matt Hicks and Joe Robertson enjoy stealing. It's as simple as that. Lafayette signee Hicks is 21-for-21 in stolen bases this season while Robertson leads the Bridge City baseball team with 26 steals on 28 attempts. The duo says their stolen bases come from having quick feet. Orangefield catcher Jacob Felts is hoping his quick feet will make Hicks and Robertson think twice about stealing when he faces them tonight at 7 p.m. at Orangefield. Orangefield leads District 21-3A with a 9-0 mark and a win gives it the district title. But Bridge City, which is 8-1 in district, has other plans as it looks to grab a share of first place with a win. To do that, however, its going require Bridge City taking advantage of having runners on base. "We got people on but we just could get them in to score," said Hicks, who was talking about Bridge City's 7-1 loss to Orangefield earlier in the season. "That made it harder to steal, but that was not the biggest factor in terms of why we lost. But I do know with Felts behind the plate, you can't just run at will." In case word hasn't gotten out, Bridge City is pretty good when it comes to stealing bases. As a team, Bridge City is 86-for-92 this seasonhttp://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/local/bridge_city__orangefield_to_face_off_on_basepaths.html
