Add $1,200 for Master's Degree; Add $5,000 for National Board Certification; Salary includes Head Coaching Stipend & Athletic Coordinator Stipend 2010-2011 Salary Schedule will be approved in June, 2010.

I'm surprised! You would NEVER think Barbers Hill would MAKE their female athletic coordinator teach too!  Shouldn't that be enough to warrant not being in the classroom?  If you oversee grades 7-12 athletics, how do you oversee them AND be in the classroom too and oversee girls basketball?  Something's a miss here it seems.  Oh well, my 2 cents from a lowly 3A looking in.

It said additional teaching field to be determined.....that leaves room for interpretation.  The posting doesn't tie them to a teaching field or certification!

You would think they would clarify that before too many people see the post. After so many years in the classroom and working hard to get masters's, certification or whatever you have to have to become a coordinator, most at a 4A school would look for a break from the classroom to focus on their true responsibilities, COORDINATING.  I bet the reading specialists, diagnosticians and counselors don't teach too.  Not even in BC do we make them do that.

Barbers Hill has never had a Girls Coordinator so they are probably going to have to spend a year identifying all of the responsibilities and roles of this position.  Perhaps this person won't have to teach at all but they wanted to let the applicants know there was a possibility of teaching.

No, I do not have an axe to grind.  I just think it is tough anytime someone loses their job and this is the 3rd head coach leaving this year along with many assistants.  I have backed the coaches we had and will back the new ones.  It seems that we have not been happy with any of the girls coaches since Rivers left.  I think we have had some good ones that have gotten away in this position.

All 3 would be good at this position.  I know Shaw has experience coaching and has been around basketball forever.  Most of us remember Pennee as a coach/player and I did see this write up on Kyle after last year's season.
This is Kit Kyle's fourteenth year as the head coach of the Marcus girls basketball program and the women's athletic coordinator for Marcus High.  Coach Kyle's record of excellence includes leading the Marauders to the State Playoffs 10 out of the last 13 years, and to 9 District Championships.  She has had the opportunity to coach and develop 47 college scholarship athletes, and as of the end of the 2008-09 season, amassed 342 career wins - all at Marcus.

Pennee and Kit have experience as girls coordinators and Robert's has administration experience at multiple schools, so the coordination duties would not be a reach for him.

Said that they wanted a coach/AD and Chancellor didn't have the required experience???

The guy has been kicking butt and taking names over there at Barbers Hill.
You gotta find another way to do it rather than just let him go.

Those people who aren't from this area can speculate all they want about why Chancellor was reassigned.  I have a kid in the program and I can tell you that there were definitely reasons why a change was initiated by the district.  He may be a nice guy, but he was outcoached on more than one occassion throughout his years at BH.  I like everything I have seen in Ronnie Gage and I trust him to find the right person for the job!

On another note, Dave Rogers at the Baytown Sun is an incompetent idiot.  In his article about Chancellor being out as Head Coach he can't even get the facts straight.  Barbers Hill did NOT nonrenew Dwayne Nunez.  In fact, I have heard he will be the Head Boys Track Coach, he just won't be coaching football.  Rogers puts a spin on EVERYTHING at BH instead of reporting fair and unbiased facts.  I will NEVER purchase another Baytown Sun and hopefully the district will insist on a published correction.  I hope the new editor at the Baytown Sun will fire this clown and look for a real sports reporter!

Well, based on the amount of advertising for BHISD and the increase in coverage of BHISD athletics, if the good people of Mt Belvieu stop buying the "The Sun" (with a new de-emphasis on the Baytown) then who will?

I find it hard to believe that any information they print would be inaccurate.

Blew an 11 point lead...wow he should't have missed so many shots. ;D...NICE to see as usual when you win the KIDS did a great job and when you lose it is ALWAYS  "I WE JUST HAD US A COACH." The Hill Needs to be careful what they ask for the grass is NOT ALWAYS greener......Don't Know Coach Chancellor but I saw BH play several time this year and They missd himin Dayton th last game of the year..and they will miss him next year  GOOD LUCK COACH

whattheheck.....all I can say is "What the Heck" are you doing commenting about BH basketball when you weren't at the playoff game?  Chancellor WAS outcoached....I was there.......and that isn't the only loss where he was outcoached AND unprepared. 

How many BH girls basketball games did you see over the past five years?  How many of your kids played for the man?  I doubt very few if any......you just want to come on this post and put in your two cents.  Well two cents doesn't get you much in my book, certainly not any more of my time!

Well True why so angry...you are getting what you want. BTW I saw 8 BH games this year alone and the team was 7 and 1. My only complaint would have been less guards and more Shaw in crunch time.
