I heard them talking about it last night during MLS pregame.  That's pretty sweet!  He'll definitely be the best player the MLS has ever had.

Is his career finished across the pond? I believe David Beckham showed us that the money is nice, but I sure miss the level of play at it's highest point.

Barcelona make plans to release him?

Henry has a lot more to offer, soccer wise, than david beckham ever did, although he's not the superstar that beckham is outside of soccer.  this move will cause less of a stir than beckham, but is much more exciting for us real soccer fans.  he's had a tough year with Barca due to injury, but he's still a bonafide superstar, even if he's no longer in the category of the best players in the world.

A report in the Daily Mail this morning claims that Thierry Henry will snub interest from Manchester City and join MLS side the New York Red Bulls after the 2010 World Cup.

Joe Bernstein writes: "Henry fancies a new challenge to end his illustrious career and MLS side New York Red Bulls are strongly tipped to be his destination, with the 32-year-old Barcelona star excited at the prospect of living in another of the world's great cities."

Bernstein adds: "Barca are interested in offering the Frenchman as bait to land Manchester City's £34million Brazilian Robinho but again the answer from Henry is 'Non' because of his American dream."

Henry has played just five games for Barcelona so far this season as he struggles with injury. The French captain missed last night’s 0-0 draw with Valencia and has not played for the Primera Division champions since late September.

The former Arsenal legend played in both of France’s World Cup qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Austria last week, he scored a penalty in the second fixture. Henry’s Barcelona contract expires at the end of the 2010/2011 season

As Sir Alex Ferguson -- no bad judge of talent -- said when asked about Henry on Tuesday: "He's not a deteriorated player by any manner or means. He's still a very, very competent player. ... I think he'll be a success [in the USA]. I've got no doubts in my mind with that."

I guess the fact that he is still in France's World Cup plans should have answered that question for me.
