adminbaberuth Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Hicks, bats lead Bridge City to Game 1 winBy DAVID HENRYBridge City starter Matt Hicks didn't have his best stuff on Friday night, but the senior pitcher did have his composure, which helped his team get through a rough start to the game.Hicks and the Cardinals came from behind to defeat Huffman Hargrave 12-5 in Game 1 of a third-round playoff game on Friday night at Nederland High School.Hicks threw a complete game, giving up no earned runs and fanning six."(Hicks) was a little tired out there, but he battled through it," Bridge City coach Chad Landry said. "It shows you how good he is when he doesn't have his best stuff, but still gives up zero earned runs. Our goal is to score one run an inning and we did that tonight. It was ugly, but we had our sticks working and we put the ball in play."read more > http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/local/hicks__bats_lead_bridge_city_to_game_1_win.html?c=y&page=1#storytop
