NickKBTV Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 BEAUMONT, Texas -- The Lamar University women’s basketball team has been selected to play in the Preseason WNIT for the upcoming season. The Lady Cardinals will be one of 16 teams in the tournament. The pairings will be announced next month. “This is a big deal for Lamar,†women’s basketball coach Larry Tidwell said. “The WNIT is one of the most prestigious preseason tournaments. It’s an honor that’s second to none.†The Lady Cardinals are coming off one of the best seasons in school history, posting a 26-8 record, winning the Southland Conference regular-season and tournament titles and participating in the NCAA Tournament for just the second time. “We hope the Preseason WNIT will jump start us for an outstanding 2010-11 season,†Tidwell said. The entire Preseason WNIT includes: Austin Peay (Ohio Valley), Central Florida (Conference-USA), Charlotte (Atlantic 10), DePaul (Big East), Florida (SEC), Hampton (MEAC), Iona (Metro Atlantic), James Madison (Colonial), Lamar (Southland), Missouri State (Missouri Valley), Purdue (Big Ten), South Dakota State (Summit), St. Francis PA (Northeast), Toledo (Mid-American), Utah Valley (Great West), Valparaiso (Horizon).
