Ty Cobb Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 My all-time favorite baseball player. Junior was everything that was right about baseball. He played the game the way it was meant to be played--full speed all the time. I've been lucky enough to see him play live over a dozen times. Fans will miss his hustle, his smile, and the sweetest swing ever!!! Simply known as "Junior" or "The Kid", he's the guy that made baseball traditionalist crazy because he wore his cap backwards. I for one would love to see that backwards cap a few more times!!! Milton Bradley, Griffey's teammate for only a few months, turned to Mike Sweeney during batting practice and said, "on a day like this, it should rain in Seattle."Well, it is indeed raining in Seattle, maybe not from the clouds but from many people's eyes.
dayton Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I didn't realize he played that many seasons!!Love the way he played... 5 tool player. I hope I never hear that he wasn't clean.Hall of Famer!!
Ruckdad Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Never liked him but always respected him as a great player, and likely the greatest player of this era. He will be missed as people start debating what his numbers could have been without all the injuries.
LumRaiderFan Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Sure wish he could have stayed healthier in his later seasons...would have loved for him to have the homerun record!Great career and hall of famer!
Gabe Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 He would have 800. Great ambassador for the game of baseball. He will be missed
bullets13 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 He was the player i idolized growing up. I hate to see him go, but i'm glad he's not dragging it out. It's time.

Critter Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 I remember stepping in the box on the left side and trying to imitate Junior......WOW, what times I loved to see his swing. Has to be a top 5 Swing and it looked effortless.
Boomhower Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 Also sad to see him go. I was kinda wishing he would hang on and play with his son like his father did. 8)
