yeah but clay hensley had a cannon and could already throw 90 plus, its not hard as a good athlete and gifted ball player to convert positions, clay played outfield at Mcneese wasn't even a pitcher but he threw 88-90 in hs, but he was a great athlete and he decided to just stick with pitching and thats it,and its not hard to convert dude, I been there and done it, you either got it or you don't, also better competition makes you tougher also, I know as a ball player I freaking got pumped up when you facing big time teams.

There are a couple of us on here that's been talking about this all year and get bashed for it. You can't settle for #7 seed in a weak conference tourney get hot and say atleast we got to the regionals. Heck atleast compete at regionals and I would be happy even if they lost the first two. LU needs to look deep and hard in the off season. Schedule the big boys and if you have to go there and play. It will pay off in the end. Also, where do you think the pro scouts go watch, UT,LSU,top baseball teams, or LU ? Play the big boys and you get two for one, exposure for your players and experience and knowledge of how to approach the tough teams come regional time.

I'm not going to debate anymore, I know what I'm talking about and I'm confident in my knowledge about the game, no reason to debate with y'all on here bec 70 percent of the fans on here have no clue.

Great with me, just because I wasn't a college ball player doesn't mean I don't know a little about the game. My brother played college football, later coached at LC-M and the Bears went to the state tournament with Beau Hale who pitched for the Texas Longhorns.

So, I've been around the game myself.

I think this is a hilarious thread.  Baseball25 patting himself on the back, even though the Cards made the NCAA regionals which he can't just man-up and say he was wrong - believe me Baseball25 takes pleasure in the Cards losing - it helps to prove his two points (1. Gilligan has lost it and 2. the LU schedule stinks) and now he's bashing pitchers b/c they aren't ready b/c of the schedule.  That's laughable considering Mattison Smith was never going to pitch a mid-week non-conference game since Gilligan clearly thought he was their no. 1 and would be saving for the conference weekend series.  The big pink elephant in the room that this thread ignores is really whether Gilligan should have started Smith at all, at least for Game 1.  Considering he just pitched 13 plus innings (9 Wednesday with 4-plus more on Saturday).  I was wondering all week whether Gilligan would give Smith the ball in Game 1 all week.  Gilligan must have thought that Smith gave the Cards the best chance to win.  I'm more likely to second guess the decision to start Smith, rather than the other two starter who would have been more rested.  That's the issue for me, not whether the team was ready.  And by the way look for TCU's starter to be in the starting rotation for TEAM USA this summer.

I have not one time bash Lamar starters by name I said I don't think they can get it done facing good teams that's all I said, I have said time and time again I hope lamar does good in the regionals I've said it two or three times, also you can play weeked series and tourney at the early part of the schedule against good teams, just by looking at there numbers against the teams they faced they struggled, and by watching them pitch this yr i figured they would struggle a bit, smith, harrington are descent southland pitchers but there not dominant nothing wrong with my assessment, I'll say this that fr pitcher they got he's going to be a stud no doubt in my mind if he stays healthy.

Man your either good or your not, a coach can help no doubt but your either a stud or just a ok a pitcher. I mean none of my coaches help me and clay in high school about pitching and I pitch on Varsity my freshman yr and not one coach help me improve I got better because I worked on it by my self  and I was gifted baseball player, we hardly threw bull pens in hs, we threw them at our houses, you either got it or you don't.

Be sure your Uncle see that you and Clay did it all by yourself with no coaching.  Coaching is coaching whether from a high school coach or someone else....
