I would think PNG in the top 25, but when you look at the list, their all tough. IMO 4A is turning out to be a very tough classicfication with strong 5A teams continuing to drop in enrollment along with new schools opening up. Heck you could be in the top 10 and go undefeated and then lose in the playoffs, and the end the ranking don't mean anything.

Not really surprise P.N.G and Central arent up their..They lost Big names, Plus We've never really started the season in Dave Campbells
top 25..I guess no matter how many rounds we go the year before, We'll never be good enough for Ol' Dave..lol

hum! I am glad that kirbyville will not be in the top 10 because at least teams will underestimate them. ;D

Kirbyville just moving back to 3A don't have a ranking in 3A since they were playing 2A ball for the last two years... ;)

Aldine Ike........
That team never seems to live up to expectations. Always loaded with athletic talent, but a definite lack of coaching. So, not suprising to not have them in the Top 25.
They have Crawford from last year plus they have as many returners as WB.  So enjoy the ranking while you have it because WB won't be there going into October....

Given the tough pre-season schedule that we have, I honestly dont expect to still be ranked when district starts. BUT, I do expect to beat Ike. With the starters we have coming back, we should beat them...heck, we almost beat them last year (27-25). I think Katy will only be the real roadblock in our way before the regular season starts.

I believe that the Rebels will make some noise this season.

Being in 1A D2, will keep us from meeting the likes of Lovelady and Mart in QB Billy Nichols.
On the D side all three linemen, 3 of the four LB's and one safety.
Plenty of talent that will be juniors coming up from a successfull JV team and the nine seniors with more 5 of them being not just starters but three year starters.

We can do away with the weak district talk as the Rebels just proved in baseball.

Do not be surprised to see this years Rebels making a run in the playoffs and getting that monkey of the football teams back!

    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
    • SEC fan bases before Texas got there: “The horns aren’t ready for this. Every week is a battle.” SEC fan bases after Texas arrived: “Texas has the easiest SEC schedule ever!” SEC fan bases after every one of their teams has lost to one or more SEC teams from the bottom half of the standings, many of whom Texas beat comfortably: 🤐
