Ashley Leon G.T. Shocker Gold player commits to McNeese

Ashley Leon catcher for G.T. Shockers Gold made a verbal commitment to McNeese today for a full ride scholarship. Ashley will graduate form Hardin Jefferson in 2012 so this is an early commitment to McNeese.  She has 2 years of High School left to play. The D1 schools are asking for early commitments trying to get players sooner and sooner. Congradulations to Ashley from Coach Trout and everyone in the G.T. Shocker family great  job, we are all proud of you.

Yep...She is officially a Junior now.

I heard that she went to the McNeese camp last week and they quickly pulled her and her family aside and started talking about her future. Offered soon after. Great Stuff!

[/quote] She cannot sign yet but there can be a verbal committment by both parties. It is happening earlier and earlier these days. I know of some of the bigger D1 schools that are done with 2011, 2012 and only looking at 2013 gradutes this summer and fall.
