stevenash Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 The Beaumont Enterprise suggests/implies that the Longhorns will be participating in a true Universal Off Season program this coming year. Does that have any impact on your prognostication for a relatively imminent state BBALL title for the H-F?
Wildcatter Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Just goes to show why the AD position should be separate position. Football coaches are out for one sport and that is their own. They have no regard for whether a basketball team wins or loses, nor do they really care. Pretty patheic no matter what team it happens to.

Wildcatter Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Just don't see how grass drills help your jumper?
AggiesAreWe Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I can speak for Silsbee's AD in that he wants all the school's sports to succeed. McGallion knows what kind of success the basketball program at Silsbee has had for many decades. He is not going to do anything to jeopardize that success.I think it's not fair to be lumping every AD into your assessments of how school athletics are run.
Wildcatter Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 I agree with you about established programs, but how are the other schools going to get better if they do not have their kids to work with? It would never happen at HJ or Silsbee but what about the other schools that are trying to close the gap? If you have non football kids they should be running cross country and working on their sport of choice. JMO
BLUEDOVE3 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 DaDove is back-not sure for how long but anyway back to the question...... I visited the HF middle school to see what was going on in weight training class. In all honesty, I didn't have a problem with the workout EXCEPT the knee squats. My own personal feeling is that kid's (middle school)are too young to handle the stress of knee squats, especially when they are very active year round.

There were about 3 kids in my equation to help with the title, who have moved away to attend other schools :'( no comment at this time. But HF will have better athletes for the coming seasons.

I don't believe this is the fix that you necessarily want.
