lonestar Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 COLLEGE STATION, Texas- An estimated 28,000 fans attended Texas A&M's Maroon Madness on Friday night at Kyle Field, breaking the unofficial national record for a preseason basketball tip-off event set by the Aggies last year. The unique outdoor event was held in conjunction with the school's traditional Midnight Yell Practice. Last year's Maroon Madness attracted more than 26,000. The men's and women's basketball teams, which are both rated among the nation's top 10 in some preseason rankings, were introduced to the crowd. The teams open the season with a double-header on Nov. 10 at Reed Arena, with the women playing Pepperdine and the men facing Prairie View A&M.
