Hearne has had one heck of a season! It has been fun watching the young Eagle squad this year. It was a season filled with big wins, heartbreaking losses, buzzer beaters and much more. Hearne goes into the post season with a 25-6 13-1 record. They have won 3 straight district titles. Here is a look at how the season progressed.

Hearne opened the season with questions to be answered. Mychal Godbold was returning from lung cancer. Hearne was returning 4 players from the previous regional qualifier team. Although 6 of the players played on the regional semi final team that lost to Clarksville two years ago. Those questions was quickly answered with it's first test. The second game on the year, Hearne went on the road and scored a big win against district 17 3A champs and TABC state ranked # 5 Waco La Vega. Mychal Godbold hit 3 long range 3's in the final minutes to seal the victory. Hearne at least knew he still had his range. As a 6'5 senior post he could still shoot the three's.

Hearne got a rude awakening when they went to the tough Madisonville Tourney. Hearne was whipped by 22 3A 2nd place team, Coldspring. Hearne bounced back with a big win over 23 2A 3rd place Trinity. The following day Hearne was turned around by 21 3A 3rd place team, Crockett. The Crockett lost was without two starters Mcdonald and Webber. Humber nearly pulled off the comeback single handed with 5 long range 3's in the final 2 minutes. Hearne bounced back and beat Caldwell in the first of three meets.

Hearne went into the Snook Tourney rolling. They defeated 3A Caldwell, 5a Magnolia JV, and 25 2A 2nd place Somerville. They lost in the championship game to 18 3a champ Madisonville. Hearne lost to Madisonville without Montrae Webber. In between the tourneys Hearne had also lost to 20 3A runner up Navasota. Navasota had been ranked as high as 10 in the TABC poll.

Hearne then had some close calls. It took a long range 3 from Hearne bench player (Moody) in the final minute to beat Mart. It also took a long range 3 from a bench player (Muckleroy)to put the game against 20 3A champ Hempstead and TABC 12th rank into overtime. Hearne then sealed the game in overtime. Muckleroy then hit another last second 3 again against 4a Waller in the Cameron Tourney. Muckleroy kept the streak going with another killer 3 against 17 3A second place Waco Connally. Hearne then beat 4a Taylor to get to the Cameron Tourney championship. Hearne was outrun in the 4th quarter by 16 4A 2nd place Killeen Ellison.

Hearne then went on to win district 22 2A. They have a 13-1 record. The only loss was to Mart. Hearne 6 losses was to playoff 4A, 3A, and 2A teams. 5 of the losses were to at least second place teams. One of the losses was to a 3a district champ. They have only lost to 1 2a team. They have scored big win against TABC ranked 3a ranked schools, Waco LaVega #5 and Hempstead #12. Overall this has been one heck of a season for Hearne.

We are trying to make our first trip to Austin since our majical 88-89 season. That year we was underdogs in every game. We beat Brrokshire Royal in the first round at Prairie View A&M. We then went on to the area round and defeated #1 in 3a Marlin in triple overtime in the area round at Temple Junior College. We went on to regionals in Brenham where we defeated a Port Author team. I don't remember which one. I know they was 3a then. Then in the regional finals we defeated Navasota with a buzzer beater. Our assistant coach Fondell Adams was the one who delivered at the buzzer. Shaq ended the run for us in the Semi finals in Austin.
