Very nicely said and everyone agrees with that. It might work in 3A ball but when you get up to 4A and 5A and hopefully eventually 6A you have to have a program in every sport to be successful. practice makes perfect
[/quote Definitely agree with both statements and Dayton is not there yet, but 5 or 6 played summer ball. 1 senior and 1 soph. played in marietta and 4 are playing fallball so I think that is a small step in the right direction

your right 20-4a is very tough lol we are confident though we all seem to think we have a good shot! but 19-4a is a good district seem to get the short end of the stick sometimes but the tend to put out good teams

[/quote]What do you mean "the short end of the stick" 19-4A has some great teams... yes last year 20-4A went 3-1 aganist 19-4A but really what does that mean... that you have a tougher district???? Please............  20-4A district champs lost in the 2nd round to buda hays which got smoked by brenham..  If you ask brenham what was some of the toughest teams they played in playoffs they would say Crosby.... 19-4A...
Really both are about equal IMO..

I didnt say 4 pitchers throwing 90+. only said 2. and its not the two popular long and legett. they barely made 82. its two seniors who one didnt play at all last year cause the terrible coaching pushed him away and the other wasnt even on varsity last year. two new guns coming for BH

Wow, nothing against the kids but please tell me the two kids that are throwing 90+ the kid i think you are talking about last year could barely reach 80 and got his chance in games but couldnt get through 2-3 innings without getting shelled. i dont know who you're talkin about on jv though but from what i saw nobody was touching 80 last year so i dont know where you're getting this from. once again nothing against the kids and if they picked up alot of speed this summer then props to them but i doubt you can pick up 15-20 mph in one summer  ???

I am curious as to what the teams in district 19/20 4A are doing this offseason and fall to prepare them for the rigor off the two districts and then the journey through region 3. Many people get on here proclaiming many different things in the spring but I believe that it is hard for teams to compete at an elite level to contend with Brenham for a state birth if they: #1 do not have a baseball driven offseason program #2 play some kind of fall ball schedule...so what is everyone doing?? Who is putting in the time and effort this offseason?? Curious...

From what I remember at games using the gun... Long hit 87 but consistent mid 80s, Leggett consistent mid 80s, Asbury consistent mid 80s, Thompson consistent 82-83. Now with that said, doesn't mean they always hit their spots or didn't have a few rocky roads, just from what I have seen.

D. Wood has always had good velocity, not a lot of junk, even back in Sr. LL league ball, but that is a pretty good improvement and C. Erwin must have gained the 15-20 mph someone was talking about, needs to work on location now.

All the boys work hard and it seems that we will be adding depth to many positions this year and that always helps! I can't wait for BB season to start! I think everyone is excited and can see some great things in the works! :) We should be pretty good this year.

First, my son only graduated in 2008......not too long ago  ??? ??? ???. I can promise you the '07 & '08 teams had plenty of talent , more than last year's....and that's not a knock on last year's team. 5 pitchers on the '08 team went on to pitch at the next level. Hales, Thamm, Silva, Kelley, and Burditt.
I hope these kids are throwing as well as you say. It's just not what I'm hearing from the contacts I have at the high school, select team, Juco, D1, and MLB scouting burea levels.....and from a couple of D1 recruiters. One from a university that you mentioned in your pm. Coach Denny had a gun on the kids that are in the baseball offseason within the last month. No one was over 86....and that wasn't from either of the two that you mention....one of which is not in the offseason program. I've been around the baseball recruiting and  the MLB draft deals long enough to know if you are a senior touching 94....you are already signed w/ at least a JuCO and more than likely a D1, or both, and scouts are around you thicker than thieves...even if you only played select ball your junior year.
Second, the growth rate in Barbers Hill is primarily at the primary school level. The enrollment figures for BH from the last 2 UIL classifiactions did not change all that much.

With that said,  best of luck to the BH Eagles and Coach Denny.

Your spot on with this post EAGLE07 and I agree completely. And to you 24baseball24. I don't know who you are but I have a pretty good idea. I'll offer you a little advice and you can take it for what it's worth. You are obviously someone who is a big fan of both of these kids and I can respect that, or someone that is throwing both of these kids purposely under the bus, which if this is the case I have no respect for you at all. The problem with what you have done is that you are trying to downplay and discredit the accomplishments of current teammates and past players of the Barbers Hill baseball program while at the same time trying to embellish the abilities of these two kids. I hope and pray for the sake of C. Erwin and D. Wood that they can live up to the expectations that you have set for them on this forum when baseball season rolls around in the spring. You have either blatantly or unknowingly set these 2 kids up for both failure and ridicule from their teammates and opponents before they even have a chance to get started. I really hope your radar gun was accurate! If not these 2 kids may be in for a really miserable senior year thanks to you!

I know for a fact that these two have pitched it in the summer. And Denny did have a gun on them when they threw from center feild to home plate which is a different then a pitch. And d. Wood threw 89 from that distants. For the 07 08 season it haS been one of the best teams that had came threw bh in a long time but couldn't even make it past the first round. Obviously not to good. These two kids are great kids throwing the ball hard and hitting their spots. Keep up the good work you are putting in. Don't have to listen to the hatred at bh from past dads

Morning Eagle07,My boy Mikey will be going to the Perfect Game 2010 WWBA (World Wood Bat Association)Qualifier this weekend in Round Rock.We play CTX Baseball Academy first than we got The Columbia Angels Red.Sunday we play South Texas Sliders.I will keep you updated on his games..Now we're really gonna see 90+.Than on Monday at 7:30 at College Park we will be playing Team USA....All depending if we are still playing monday in Round Rock Dell stadium...

First, my son only graduated in 2008......not too long ago   ??? ??? ???. I can promise you the '07 & '08 teams had plenty of talent , more than last year's....and that's not a knock on last year's team. 5 pitchers on the '08 team went on to pitch at the next level. Hales, Thamm, Silva, Kelley, and Burditt.
I hope these kids are throwing as well as you say. It's just not what I'm hearing from the contacts I have at the high school, select team, Juco, D1, and MLB scouting burea levels.....and from a couple of D1 recruiters. One from a university that you mentioned in your pm. Coach Denny had a gun on the kids that are in the baseball offseason within the last month. No one was over 86....and that wasn't from either of the two that you mention....one of which is not in the offseason program. I've been around the baseball recruiting and  the MLB draft deals long enough to know if you are a senior touching 94....you are already signed w/ at least a JuCO and more than likely a D1, or both, and scouts are around you thicker than thieves...even if you only played select ball your junior year.
Second, the growth rate in Barbers Hill is primarily at the primary school level. The enrollment figures for BH from the last 2 UIL classifiactions did not change all that much.

I'll offer you a little advice and you can take it for what it's worth. You are obviously someone who is a big fan of both of these kids and I can respect that, or someone that is throwing both of these kids purposely under the bus, which if this is the case I have no respect for you at all. The problem with what you have done is that you are trying to downplay and discredit the accomplishments of current teammates and past players of the Barbers Hill baseball program while at the same time trying to embellish the abilities of these two kids. I hope and pray for the sake of C. Erwin and D. Wood that they can live up to the expectations that you have set for them on this forum when baseball season rolls around in the spring. You have either blatantly or unknowingly set these 2 kids up for both failure and ridicule from their teammates and opponents before they even have a chance to get started. I really hope your radar gun was accurate! If not these 2 kids may be in for a really miserable senior year thanks to you!

I know for a fact that these two have pitched it in the summer. And Denny did have a gun on them when they threw from center feild to home plate which is a different then a pitch. And d. Wood threw 89 from that distants. For the 07 08 season it haS been one of the best teams that had came threw bh in a long time but couldn't even make it past the first round. Obviously not to good. These two kids are great kids throwing the ball hard and hitting their spots. Keep up the good work you are putting in. Don't have to listen to the hatred at bh from past dads
