Being that this is a scrimmage and not a "game", there will be no broadcast.

Not much to this one.  Vidor scores on last play of scrimmage.  OF looked pretty good on defense especially with some starters out but could not move the ball at all today.

I heard that the Evans was out as well.

losing huck is going to hurt that team more so than a few are willing to admit.

Of course losing him is going to hurt, no one can run that offense like he did.  However, the problem today was the offfensive line missing their assignments.  But thats what scrimmages are for.  The bright spot today was the defense, espically considering two starting linebackers where out.  I cant wait for Thursday to see if we have really improved that much or if it was that we were playing against an offense we are familar with.

I imagine this was indeed just like practice for both teams since they both run the same offense.  Livingston and Vidor are the only teams in 20 4A that run the slot T,  I don't think anyone else in OF's district runs it.  Will probably get a better idea of both teams when they face different offenses/defenses next scrimmage.

Guys  they had 14 total yards and no first downs.  Vidor offense had 208 yds on 35 plays ( almost 6 1/2 yds per play)  Vidors jv (white helmets) played half of the reps..  Its a scrimmage.  Both teams will be fine.

That's the spirit!  With these two teams being so much alike, it was more like another practice, nothing really new, just different bodies to block and tackle.
We ran the ball well at times but the pass blocking was absolutely terrible!!!! This is an area we have to be better at.Defense played pretty good.

Since when was anybody at Vidor worried about "pass blocking?"  ;D and you would think that they both would be looking to scrimmage more popular offenses, since both are already used to it and neither will play to many games against it.
If we learned anything from this offense last year, Its the pass is usually open when we do throw it because teams are selling out to stop the run. We did not pass block well last year and it cost us. (IMO) Iam not saying we throw 20 a game but if we throw 10 times we need to atleast complete 6 of those.

We have work to do.  But from looking at all the results on these boards everybody has things they need to work on before the season gets rolling.  We will see were the pirates are this year after the next few weeks.  We defiantly dont have a cake walk preseason this year and time will tell.  Good luck to all and play with everything you have. :)

    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
    • SEC fan bases before Texas got there: “The horns aren’t ready for this. Every week is a battle.” SEC fan bases after Texas arrived: “Texas has the easiest SEC schedule ever!” SEC fan bases after every one of their teams has lost to one or more SEC teams from the bottom half of the standings, many of whom Texas beat comfortably: 🤐
    • With a big win against the rival to close out the year… look to see Lamar make the playoffs next year
