Thunderlicious Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 beaumont central above both png and pa memorial?? pretty decent list besides that.
Guest tappedout Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Absolutely no respect for Nederland!
Kville_Kats Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I'm surprised Kirbyville got ranked being it's their first year back in 3A this time..I suppose the back to back State appearances in 2A may have helped... ???
82 5A State Champs Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010
Absolutely no respect for Nederland!
What do you think a fair ranking would be? You have to look at what their record form last year was, and who they have returning. Alot goes into these rankings, they're not just drawn from a hat. IMO, thats about where they should be.
BrenhamFan Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Central above Dayton? Not sure about that...
Gtj007 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 That's funny!!! Nederland behind four 3A schools?? Silsbee being one of those?? Again laughable!! I'm curious how the points work?
82 5A State Champs Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Again, where would you rank them. Is it because they're a 4A school thats ranked behind a couple of 3A schools? Doesn't Nederland play WO-S in a few weeks? Maybe we should re-evaluate their ranking after that game. My guess, Nederlands ranking will go down after that game.
PNGFan Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010
Central above Dayton? Not sure about that... SgtRey Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I still got Dayton at #2...I can say the rest is good...not sure about the number 1 spot though... ;D
Gtj007 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Well since you asked. I would put nederland at 8. Not ahead of wos or crosby but definitely ahead of silsbee, kirbyville and jasper. Again, i want to know how the points work. If they are basing the points off of last years record then ok. But silsbee will be nowhere close to the team they were last year.
AggiesAreWe Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Just to explain the points, a team gets 15 points for a 1st place vote, 14 for 2nd, 13 for 3rd and so on and so on. That's why you see West Brook with 150 points. There are 10 pollsters and all 10 voted them #1.Now, as to why West Brook was voted #1 or why any of the other teams got voted in whatever spot they ended up in, I believe it to be a multitude of reasons. But that's how the points work. I answered your question about the points but to answer any questions as to how a team was voted would be pointless. ;D

WOS and Kville both had young teams and are returning very good teams!!! Your correct I dont know how they could even put Kirbyville or WOS anywhere near Nederland. Geez what are they thinking? Explain to me how your logic works again??

Gtj007 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Go back and read my post. I said WOS should be ahead of Nederland, but not Kirbyville, Silsbee or Jasper. Last year should have very little to do with this poll. We all know that Nederland lost their starting QB against WOS last year and were down to their 4th string QB for most of the year. Kirbyville losing to WOS by one point last year should have nothing to do with this. And as I also stated earlier, Silsbee will be a much different team this year as well.
AggiesAreWe Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I agree that Silsbee will be different.

WOS is returning most of the exact same kids that beat Nederland by 21 and Kirbyville is also returning most of the exact kids. It has alot to do with last year! I think ranking wise they are where they need to be. Nederland had their struggles last year and there is nothing in place that would suggest anything different. Most preseason rankings are a combination of what they did last year combined with what they have coming back and are expected to do this year. Therefore, in my opinion Nederland is where they need to be and if they have improved and get the wins that matter then they will end up where they deserve.

phunter308 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I would have to say Dayton is number 1 by far with the talent and the playoff run last year. After that W.B. then those dang Indians,Central, Crosby. I hope there is alot of changes as the season progresses but I agree Ned should be higher than all but WOS they are nothn but atheletes at Wos.
phunter308 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Sorry PA Mem should remain where they are but I think they may be a surprise.
dayton Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I believe WB returned 19 from a team that went 3 or 4 rounds deep in the 5A playoffs last year. They are right where they need to be IMO... at #1.
Guest rykerx144 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 maybe im the one confused, are we ranking them by popularity?

When you say they "will be different" I think you really mean "without Jeremy Johnson" ;D
