Port Arthur News reported Dionte sprained his knee, but also fractued a bone on his throwing hand, he will be out 5-6 weeks. Carson Raines (soph) is the starter until Dionte returns.

Amen...
They say the biggest jump in game speed is going from JV to Varsity.
Might take him awhile to get used to the speed.
Last year when Dayton's sophomore QB got bumped up to varsity against Barbers Hill it took him two quarters.  In the third quarter the Broncos exploded for about 250 yards and 21 points.  It just takes time to get used to the speed of the game.

Coach always has a back up plan and I believe that Raines will be ready for the job.  I agree it will take a little time for him to get use to things on varsity.  DOGS haven't lost their bite.  GOOD LUCK CARSON and hopes for a successful and injury-free season.

I spoke with his dad yesterday, and he said that Carson is rady for the challenge, I wish him all the luck until ya'll play us. ;D

Carson is gonna be fine and I think before he leaves NHS will end up being one of the best QBs we have had, but I have said that for a couple of years now...would I feel better if he had another year to groom?  Yes, but everbody has to have a first game sometime and this Friday will be his...Carson's skill set is built for this offense...he is athletic, has real good speed and he has a good arm to go with it...best of luck, Carson...we got your back  ;)
