HUM's take:

Kingwood Park-
OFFENSE- Has a decent little offense that features more of a passing game then they featured last year.  Number 14 (Vonderkomp sp?) throwing motion is a little low on short passing game (20 yards or less).  Tends to side arm it, which will result in a lot of deflection with a solid defensive line.  #84 for Kpark proved to be the key target and is pretty impressive with his ability to get open despite being slower then the rest of the WR/TE's.  The offensive line is pretty good, not amazing, but they have some good technique are larger then i expected to see.  Running game looked good.  However a lot of what i saw has to be taken with a grain of salt because Channelview has a TON to work on.

B-

Defense- #31 is a fast at DE, but i believe he is overhyped.  he looks more like a HS linebacker or FS then a DE.  He technique is good, but a solid offensive line will shut him out every time as he extremely reckless in his reads.  he will often over pursue.  The Dline as a whole doesn't get very much penetration, even for a Dline that is attempting to play a sideline to sideline style defense.  pursuit down the line was solid, and was able to shut out most of Channelviews attempts to get their play makers in open field near the flats or on the screens they love to run. IF an offense desides to run straight at Kpark, and they have a decent back....they are going to win.  Wearing that defense down doesn't appear to be too hard.  Secondary is ok, but they are not very fast.  They got beat alot but due to the lack of an CV offensive line the recievers timing with the QB was off.  Any team capable of connecting with their wideouts at least 50% of the time will beat Kpark by 14-21pts easy.

Grade: C+

Channelview
Offense-  The offense biggest weakness is a lack of an offensive line, they aren't really even bad just that they are weak at tackle.  Often times #2 was forced out of the pocket to throw or run, and in order to have a successful offense you have to be able to give your QB time.  When Kpark stunted the DE's inside, they had better luck with the passing game.  Running game is actually pretty solid, but they rotate between #31 (justin hicks) and #20.  If they leave #31 in i believe they will see a stronger offensive showing.  QB looked to have trouble throwing on the move, which was a have too because the tackles for CV are horrendous.  WR #1 and #7 are extremely athletic, however #7 seemed to do better on the short routes opposed to the deeper ones....he dropped some key ones.  same story for #1.
Grade: C-

Defense- BAD.  Dline, is horrible.  They are too upright, good size at Dend though. the line would get blown up by Kparks offensive line, and the LB's would get caught in blocks...allowing plenty of room to through, and huge running lanes.  The secondary isn't bad, but had to over compensate for the lack of run defense.
Grade:D-

K-park will make the playoffs, but at 3rd or 4th.

Channelview will come in last again.

next week:
K-park vs. Magnolia West-  MW by 14pts

CV vs. Humble-  Humble by 35+

Magnolia West is only in their third year and they have a new coach.  He coached a 2A school last year, to a 2-8 record.  I'll take KP by 10.

Oh ya, I'll let you know how Huntsville looks after tonight.  New coach (their old DC) and only 2 returning starters on defense.  ;D ;)
