Maybe he wouldn't run up the score but I have seen some pretty lopsided scores posted by Newton through the years!
Unfortunately onesided games happen, sometimes after the 1st string is pulled .... the backups find themselves on the field with a rare opportunity to play and they want to shine too.

I didn't place the blowout in the other direction, b/c I have not seen that happen yet in 30+ games.
b/c Barbay won't run the score up on anyone. not even the Wildcats.
I'll vouch for that..I pulled the chains for Kirbyville's home games for a few years...Used to talk a little to him on the side lines...

You are correct...And back then Kirbyville had more than their share of lopsided games..To appreciate where you are now, youv'e got to remember where you've been.. ;)

I'd have to object to that comment.  In 98' when they won state the starters played the entire game and the final was 55-0 Newton.  Trust me he never took the foot off the pedal.  I hold no ill will torwards him or Newton for it....we couldn't have scored if we wanted to anyways! ;)  Heck, one of their starting LB's kept telling me we needed to score.  My reply:  Put your JV out there and we "might"! ;D

I was at that game also and Newton played second team mixed with first in the second half and in the fourth quarter let senior linemen(defensive and offensive) run dive plays up the middle trying not to score. That was the only game that year they got to run with the ball.

I was on that team the back ups played the entire second half so no he didn't leave the starters in we had folks playing defense that had never played before. That team was just loaded with talent the back ups were just as good as the starters that season. So folks just thought the starters were in.

It's in the past and I think it's funny now, but 55-0 isn't running the score up?  I played in the game also and D. Walker, R. Gulley, Josh Harrell, & T. Kennebrew were all still in the game in the 2nd half.  Can't remember the several rb's they had but it wasn't pretty. ;D

What's funny to me is how bad we "disliked" each other and now Gulley is a coach in Kville.  After that game was over I still shooked everyones (guys I knew) hand and wished luck to you guys in the playoffs....even after that little stunt before the game.  Remember what happened???  Still think that was a bit classless on the part of a few players, but it's all good now. ;)

The best thing I remember about that year was Newton 21 - Daingerfield 0 in Nacogdoches and a state championship trophy! :) I think that team was probably the overall most talented that Newton has ever fielded.
I couldn't agree more.

Yeah I do remember that. Barbay ran the dog out of us for that little stunt too. He was very disappointed at us for that little stunt.

In the 30 games that I have seen Kirbyville play, I have not seen them get blown out...that is all I meant.

Kville looks like a team in week 10 , They been hard at it in practice . Eager to see how Newton will come out in the first half, will we see the same old week 1 Eagles or will they surprise me?

It's kinda like growing up in a large family. Sometimes you fight with each other, and that's ok, but don't let anyone outside try to assault one out of the family because then they have to fight the whole bunch!  :)

Indeed it is.
