TexasTerror Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 FYI... Beatty completes changes the Lamar game plan and more than likely, the outcome of the game - if 100%.
Realizing Beatty was likely out for Saturday’s home opener with Tennessee-Martin, Lucas said after the game, “We’ll get B.J. Young ready to play.â€By his Tuesday news conference, Lucas was talking about his starting quarterback, Brian Young. B.J. apparently stands for Brian Jr. and is an old family nickname that they would like to put aside.“I think his parents like … Brian,†Lucas said of the Hahnville product.Beatty could be back next week, when the Lions host Lamar.
http://www.neworleans.com/sports/sports-blogs/lenny-vangilder/470795-college-sports-notes-happy-sad-reasons-to-think-sugar-bowl.html
coachacola Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 That means a Lamar win will just be that more impressive!
bigred360 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Agree after playing Webber International, I want to see the best SE Louisiana has so there will be no negative talk about our opponent not being 100% or the talk about Lamar playing a small school.

I just hope Coach Woodard doesn't try to embarrass Webber just to inflate our numbers.

bigred360 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 No, Coach Woodard seems like a good man. I've only met him one time. But we are playing a team with 18 scholarship players and 700 students so the score could get out of hand pretty quickly. That is all I'm saying. I hope he plays everyone and the reserve players get some PT. Sorry if my post was offensive. That was not my intention. Peace.
TexasTerror Posted September 13, 2010 Author Report Posted September 13, 2010 RoyalLions responded on AGS to my inquiry... see his opinions on the team's effort against UTM, which was a solid win for them...
He probably could have played this week had it been a conference game of significance (aren't they all?!) or a playoff game...my understanding is he may be ready to go this week, but may or may not start...he'll definitely be ready for ULM.As for whether we'll need him more this week than last, I dunno...UTM was pretty solid, and better than some teams in our league IMO...we didn't play well in the second half, and Young missed a ton of wide open receivers, but I thought we beat a solid, well-coached football team with considerably less than our best effort, and with a backup QB taking his first collegiate snaps.
