STiger85 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010
Dang. Silsbee didn't win. First quarter was turnovers. Two for Silsbee, one on the six yard line and one for Lumberton with a blocked punt. Second quarter was all Lumberton (21 points) and very little Silsbee (8 points), wow #39 is the real deal for Lumberton. Lumberton leaned heavy on him and he carried them. Third quarter was all Silsbee defense. Silsbee offence found light and scored a TD. The fourth quarter nether offence could get going only Lumberton got a little going to end the game. I really thought Lumberton was going to run away with the game but Silsbee's defense was able to stop them and shut them out in the second half but the damage was already done. Lumberton did a good job of switching there defense from a three man front the a four man front, and changing there blitzing up every play. Silsbee found a flaw in there defense in the third quarter and scored a TD but half way though the fourth quarter Silsbee starting running out of gas as Lumberton had more players to move in and out of there line up. That turnover on the six yard line in the first quarter for Silsbee really came into play as that was the difference in the ball game. Good job and congrats Lumberton on a very hard fought game. Good luck next game. Regroup Silsbee and get ready for next week. Going to the Piney Woods NEWTON! Go Tigers!!!
Also Silsbee stopped Lumberton in the second quarter and forced them to punt, only to have 12 men on the field and give Lumberton the ball back. Two plays later a 47 yrd pass for a TD. Mistakes!
STiger85 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010
Lumberton missed a bunch of easy receptions the second half or you would have seen another 50 point game. You Tiger's best bet was the hail marry to #9; that's if you could protect your QB!
Silsbee dislodged several balls from Lumbertons hands with there big hits. Several times Lumberton recervers looked like they just didn't want to make the catch. Yes #9 did good tonight in single, double and even triple coverage.
WTB Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 9 never saw triple coverage. he has a good game and was bracketed most of it but not tripled
STiger85 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010
9 never saw triple coverage. he has a good game and was bracketed most of it but not tripled
Yes several times in the second half he was covered by a CB with a safety over the top and a LB sliding over to his side. One time he caught the ball and three Lumberton players were around him.

Also when McDaniel was hurt, wasn't the call roughing the passer? Should've resulted in a Silsbee first down. Not blaming this loss on the refs. OC needs to do a better job. Find something that works then to not go back to it. Ho-hum, another could've, should've, would've season for the Tigers. Doing less with more than just about every 3A team in the state. Bring on them Eagles.
bojangles Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Im sure both teams could have played better, thats always the case, but under the crappy field conditions, us missing 3 starters, and Pace only playing one way tonight, we are more than happy to take home the W. Pace spent half the game puking on the sidelines and cramping up, he's great at corner and we missed him there tonight. His offensive abilities speak for themselves haha ask your secondary. As for the guy earlier ....yea sure he was ok, but mostly just bigger than anyone we had to defend him. Takes more than one guy to win games....tons of fumbled snaps, but center was snapping w his left hand after his right was broken at the end of the BH game last night. Were missing a starting OT, WR/CB, and DE..our center played w a broken hand...id say no excuse for the loss tonight silsbee, just take it on the chin and move on...
ST413 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Iwas told that the penalty wasn't foir too many men on the field. It was for a lineman back downfield where the ball was received. They said this is a new rule that went into effect last year. A 15 yard penalty.
CATS80 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Congrats to lumberton Football team . you all played a very good game. And Great game to Silsbee. you know a few things to work on. you will be just fine for district play

You need to talk to the Lumberton coaches about how good he is. PoppaBearstarr Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Just my take on the game, Silsbee was bigger and more athletic. Lumberton played with heart and was very well coached @ EVERY position.
