Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 LP running attack is potent.
LP0175 Posted September 11, 2010 Author Report Posted September 11, 2010 It was a the game the offense needed! The O was caged all game, having to FIGHT for every yard earned. KF lined up in a 40 front with 2 defenders lined up on the L.O.S. weakside of the formation, they will then rush offr the edge. The rest of the 2nd level defenders would pack the 5-7 yard range. Of course the wrs (2 of them) were played press/bump and run coverage. The KF defense solded out to stop the run, that they did do when you compare this week's rushing success to the previous two games. I worried what would happen to the offense if they faced an equally sized and speed defense and it was a worthy opponent. I came away impressed with QB McNeil emotional and overall "a General leads from the front and should be the first to taste battle" mentality. I could see the O panicing because the overall dominance was not there this week. The frustration was obvious when a player to remain un-named took a late shot on one of the KF defenders in the center of the stadium stare and didnt take kindly to players trying to calm him down. The oline should take the opportunity to grow from this. they have done a great job these past two games and should use the frustration from this game as a energy boost for the remainder because we only see tougher opponents from here on out. The backfield was exhausted...getting gang tackled by 3 or more defenders everyplay zaps your energy. i give KF for piling on until the whistle. I would have liked to see the play-calling open up. we stuck to the running game more than to my liking but the hands of the receivers were not there tonite either. so i understand. Thank the man upstairs for the defense... The defense won the game. KF played mostly 5 wide (mizzou-style) offense. Our defensive scheme was man coverage and blitz all but one remaining defender. The run game was kept in check although #6 for KF was giving key yardage when needed late in the game. The defense did cause a few turnovers as they have in previous games. i believe our take-away abilities will be key to our distrit games. LP did get burnt over the middle while playing cover 0 a few times which produced either a TD or key 1st down for KF. McNeil did play some safety late in the game and really added a presence to the middle of the field, he broke up a td pass towards the end of the game. This is the game LP needed. A tough full 4 quarters game. we have atascosita next week which i have LP favored. I know Atascosita has been impressive these past two years but i see them not being on that level this year as of right now. I'll give an early prediction for a 12 point victory but after more research i'll submit a final draft on that. Also, MARK your calenders for La Porte at Deer Park!!! Deer Park is looking good (despite a goose egg put on them by the Clear Creek Wildcats tonite, which was meet with applause by our fans tonite). if you have the open slot. make it down here for that game. Deer Park will be a worthy opponent for one of our district members.
LP0175 Posted September 11, 2010 Author Report Posted September 11, 2010 Here is a link to the Houston Chronicle report on the game. for a FULL GAME REPORT please read...because to be honest, i missed the first half of the game due to mis-timing a start time for the Resident Evil movie :Dhttp://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/hso/7195627.html
LP0175 Posted September 11, 2010 Author Report Posted September 11, 2010 i missed this helmet crushing blow in the first half but thank God for youtube. ??? lolhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OR6zjfI9eQ2nd half saw 6 helmets knocked off KF players heads. every week LP defenders are divorcing helmets from opponent's head. i would tighten up those straps. ;D
