bowhunter45 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Struggling with converting extra points could come back to haunt Kville and cost them a playoff game.Any thoughts or opinions???
ChampionEagles Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 A good kicking game becomes more important the deeper in the playoffs you go. If you don't have one, you can definetly find yourself going home early.
bowhunter45 Posted September 11, 2010 Author Report Posted September 11, 2010 It seems to me if you dont have a kicking game and you have 3 horses for RB's wouldn't you be better off just to run the ball. And i'll say it again run the ball!!!!!!
ChampionEagles Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 In the playoffs, that don't always work, especially if the other team knows that's what your going to do. Your going to come up short on the score board.
bowhunter45 Posted September 11, 2010 Author Report Posted September 11, 2010 I agree with you. But with an O as good as they have mix it up and go for two... Orrrrr find a band member that can kick the ball ;D ;D
ChampionEagles Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Now is the time to be looking and working on the kick no doubt. Wins are good right now, but not critical. Later on it's do or die.
JCfan Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Surely if there was a kicker on the team, Alvarez would have found him by now. Who is kicking off? Cant do extra points? Obviously not or this thread would not be going. As good as the running game is and the QB is, they should be able to go for two the rest of the year and be fine from the sounds of it. ;)That is one place Jasper is money. Mijares is on on the field goals and extra points!

JCfan Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 I wasnt in any way referencing the game. Good night man, I was just saying it would be nice for y'all to have a guy like Mijares. Settle down.

pirate68 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Kville has a great team,But when you get deep in the playoffs you better have a kicking game are it will come back to haunt you. I think you guys have a shot if you find a kicker.
kcat-fan Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 I had to listen to the b-cast of the game.....was it all on the kicker or was there any bad snaps?...and one blocked?
raideroldtimer Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 LOL.....dude, someone has to get close to your team before you have to worry about that. ;D
pirate68 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010
LOL.....dude, someone has to get close to your team before you have to worry about that. ;D
Dude....When you play teams the caliber of Wos in the playoffs they will be close to you and you better be able to get 3 when you can..And to the other poster it was all on the kicker Kville does not have one but they have everything else

Now with your Silsbees', Gilmers', etc. yeah your right, gotta find a good soccer player.
texaggies07 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 I completely agree kicking them extra points are going to prove critical in the deeper rounds. Even possibly the ability to kick a short field goal to convert some points to keep momentum. We are not very good at kicking extra points neither over here in Coldspring. I don't think we have converter a half dozen in three years by kicking it.
Lefty99 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 The game against Newton the Kicker did well with PAT's. As I was broadcasting the game last night I noticed that the snaps to the holder were consistantly low. As someone who once help for PAT's a low snap is your worst nightmare. That is the one thing that has to be worked on soon.
bowhunter45 Posted September 11, 2010 Author Report Posted September 11, 2010 Keene did a very good job catchin the low snap and putting the ball down for the kicker. But you are right that part of the special team needs work and needs it fast.
ChampionEagles Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Continue working on it now. This is the time. Going for two now will not help when you might need that kicking ability in a close playoff game. How many points you win by this time of year means nothing. No matter how you try in practice, it isn't the same as a game. Just my opinion.
jacpac00 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 I guess you know, WildcatGRAD, the kicker IS in the band, lol! I think he has done a decent job. The snaps were definitely low last night.

It causes them to rush the play and that is not a good thing but it is very fixable and I know that Alavrez will have it worked out.
kcat-fan Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 IMO the Kats have improved tremendously since week 0...the kicking game will improve, I'm more concerned with the excessive penalties....but at the rate their developing this season, they will be a force in district!!!!KATS ARE JUST GETTIN FIRED UP!! ;)
