Fall Enrollment

Not sure why Lamar is slow in releasing the fall enrollment numbers, but according to the TSUS website Lamar's enrollment is 14,618.  I read somewhere else that semester credit hours are up 30% over last fall which would mean a healthy increase for the athletic department from student fees.

Here's the complete list:
Lamar University 14,618
Lamar Institute of Technology 3,238
Lamar State College-Orange 2,656
Lamar State College-Port Arthur 2,745
Sul Ross State University 2,124
Sul Ross State University Rio Grande College 1,109
Sam Houston State University 17,214
Texas State University-San Marcos 32,586

Thought it would exceed 15k.  Maybe it will when they release they release the final numbers.

Be too North, but I know it isn't official and LIT is no longer part of Lamar I still look at their numbers and include them with LU because they (students) use the Rec Center, Dinning Hall and they get tickets for Lamar football games.

I thought I read somewhere that LIT students pay the athletic fee too, is this true?

No, I read somewhere that LIT students do not pay the athletic fee. Their students would have had to vote on that (student fee) and up to this point they haven't.

So you are telling me LIT students are paying $8.75 per semester hour for the athletic fee for football at Lamar University???

I'll call both Lamar and LIT on Monday and find out first hand.
If they get the benefits of our university like access to the Rec, Dining Hall, and sporting events, then they better pay!

LIT students do pay the athletic fee... I have a frind that goes there and he said they do
Called LIT today like I said I would and they DON'T pay the athletic fee. They do pay a FLAT $60 per semester for access to the Shelia Umphrey Rec Center. They have another fee to give them access to Lamar athletic events for free.

But they do not play the $8.75 per credit hour for fall and spring semesters or the $4.50 per semester hour for summer sessions.

Just a little info to clear the air.

The official numbers are out:
Lamar's headcount is 14,388, up 2.8 percent over last fall's record enrollment of 13,994. Semester credit hours totaled 140,904, an increase of 7.9 percent.

Growth of more than 1,100 on-campus students contributed to the record enrollment, Smith said. In recent years, much of Lamar's enrollment growth has been attributable largely to its distance learning programs.
