Even though he was a basketball Coach i thought that i would post this here.

JH "Jack" Whitton past this week and will also be buried Wed morning.

Coach Whitton  Record was 512 - 175 in Twenty Years
4 State Basketball Championships
Huntington Class A state Champs
1950, 1960
West Sabine Class A State Champs
1963, 1965
2 third Place State Winners 1962 and 1968  (This used to be a full blown Tourney at state.)
1 Runner Up to State Champs 1969

Coached 7 teams in State Play
Sixteen District Championships
Winning Coach of South All Star Team in 1968

Elected to the Coaches Hall of Honor and the Texas State Coaches Hall of Fame.

Finished his career as 14 yr Principle of West Sabine High School.
His legacy will be remembered for decades to come, as the new basketball court being constructed in West Sabine's new high school is being named in his honor.

One interesting story between his time in Huntington and West Sabine he was in West Texas at AAA Seminole. He lost in the Regional final to a strong Don Haskins coached Dumus Team.

I graduated from West Sabine in 1982 with Coach Whitton's daughter. He was always a class act and a wonderful human being. He treated every student with grace and caring...Aside from them wins and championships what better legacy is that..
