The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a quick lead in game one and never looked back as they cruised to a 30-21, 30-21, 30-17 win. Lamar, who improved to 9-14 overall and 5-3 in Southland Conference play, opened the match with a strong service run by setter Adrianne Meengs, which staked the Lady Cards to a quick 7-0 lead and ran away with the 30-21 win. Game two saw Lamar again pull away from the Kats early, and cruise to another 30-21 win. In game three the Lady Cardinals again proved to be too much for Sam Houston, as they pulled away from a 17-15 game, closing out the match on a 13-2 run for a 30-17 win. Meengs again had a long stay at the service line, serving seven straight points to give LU a 25-15 lead. Leading the way for the Lady Cardinals was Okoh, who posted her first career kills-digs double-double with 12 kills and a career-high 12 digs and hitting .667. Also coming up big for the Lady Cardinals was Molli Abel, who knocked down 15 kills with a .393 hitting percentage. Meengs set the table for LU, passing out 38 assists, and Andrea Hamilton led the Lady Cards with 18 digs. As a team, the Lady Cardinals hit .303 for the match, while holding the Kats to a .025 hitting percentage. Lamar also posted nine blocks and seven service aces. The Lady Cardinals will be in action again Saturday night, when they take on Stephen F. Austin at the Montagne Center at 7:30 p.m.
