Buna is a very well balanced team. Inability to stop the run killed Hardin, very impressed O-line and the Runningbacks are explosive.

Keep your heads up Hornets. No need in giving up!!

Buna rushing game putting this one away for them, got to have at least 350 yards rushing.#22 and #7 are very impressive
[/quote]

#22 Lynn Williams is a short yardage specialist while #7 Jacob Craft is quick

Somebody forgot to tell Williams he was the "short yardage specialist".  This dude ate up some big chunks of yardage.  Buna looks good

Wow, the Hornets got a handle full tonight 'eh?

Keep up the hard work Hornets, don't get your head down.

Great win for the Cougars!  Williams, Craft and the entire Buna offensive line just dominated Hardins' defense.  Hardins' QB (Taylor) played as gritty as ever (great competitor).  Hornets offensive line did a great job giving him time in first half, but the Cougars defense started getting to him in the second half, forcing a few throws.  #5 and #10 for Hardin are excellent athletes and really make it tough to defend the pass, big and fast.  Edwars for Buna made some bonecrushing hits on defense, Moss, Sharp, Ross pushed the line back into the pocket.  If Bunas' line continues to open holes like they have in the first 2 district games, they all will deserve First Team All-District.  Great win Cougars!!  Now let's get ready for Anahuac.  See you in Buna Friday!

Hardin has a good offense, howroveever, you can't just pass and win big games.  Their defense needs to improve.  they are not very physical.  And the refs were the worst I've ever seen.  Oh and Javelina wasn't at the game or he wouldn't have made that comment about Williams being a short yardage runner.  He's always had breakaway speed.

Like I said. Buna rolled over a weak Hardin team.  Another impressive hard hitting game for the coogs.  The officials were the worst I've ever seen.  Stopping the clock and starting the clock for hardin's benefit. That was very noticeable.  Calling penalties on buna for personal fouls when buna gained big yards. It was bad. Good job buna.  Good luck next week.

hardin thought they were doing something goin 4-0 to start the season. but look who they were playing. i hope the would beat liberty and west hardin. they should have prepared with a little better compition for their tough distrct

It's the same thing every year. Run up big numbers playing lesser compitition and claim the're the best coached 2A team around. Then they start basketball practice after they get beat down by Anahuac, Buna, EC and this year Woodville / Newton.

It's like clock-work.

And for some odd reason I'm not hearing any feedback from hardin fans.  Hey Hardin, even though you lost the refs want to know if they still get their bonus checks?

Buna did a great job running the ball. I have never seen offensive line substitutions as often and all night long, as Buna did.  Thats where the game was won, there O line, ran over Hardin, and the 2 headed back monsters had a field day.  Buna could not stop the catches by #10.  Refs made a few bad calls, in both favors.  I was impressed by the size of Buna's band, they are huge and sound good. The Hornet band has improved over the years, kudos to the drum line. The Hornet fans cheered on the boys, never giving up.  Big turnovers by Hardin really hurt as well.  Hardin needs to find a running game.  Saw big hits from both sides, with Buna having more.  I enjoyed the game, and the fans.  Great job Buna, good luck in District.  Keep your heads up Hornets, get ready for next week.

SFA, have you been to Hardin? Last time I went they were laying down a new carpet on their field but nobody was working on the blue tarps that were covering the classrooms. I bet those tarps are still there. And it's not like the field made that awesome 'pro passing attack' pay for the missing roof.

Hey Uknowit2.  Yea I was there.  What I can't grasp is this winning tradition I keep hearin bout.  I hope anahuak dont feel the same as Hardin bout their programs being just alike

No one thought Liberty would be THIS BAD! But i am a Hornet fans as i moved to Hardin a few years ago. But, i agree you cant say anything until you play good competition.

Guys it's common sense ive been saying all along thAt hardin will put up points but there defense can't stop the run against teams like buna, ec, anahuac, and newton. Those teams are to fast and physical for them. I mean by looking at buna last night during warmups compared to hardins players you should know it was going to be a long night for hardin. I do think the hardin coaches do a good job of preparing them but what can you when ur facing a team that is bigger, faster, and stronger....

Question for all Hardin folks....How can you have such a nice stadium (turf, new stands, concrete everywhere) and not have 25 second clocks??  Somebody didn't plan to well.

Congrats Buna, you won. I love my Hornets, and they will have to fight harder to compete in this district. We have to make the 2 point conversions. You have to stop with the penalties. Although I think Buna got away with a few last night, some pass interference going on that was not called. Not making excuses but this is what I saw. The defense has to start playing a better game and stop running games and put pressure on the QB.
Hornets played decent but not great, penalties, a fumble, QB sacks and dropped passes. All has to be perfect to compete in this district. The offensive line did a decent job protecting Myles, but Coach Haynes needs to remember they are other receivers besides D.J. and Marquis. We need some fullbacks in the backfield and lets do some running. When Myles is always in the shot gun this is getting to easy to read. Yes we get some great bomb passes that makes this game exciting, but we have to get better on defense and offense. We also may be in trouble after 6 week grades come in - I have heard of three not passing - you know who you are - this is a shame, because grades should always come first no matter what, if you can't make the grades you don't deserve to play.
Hardin needs to get back to basics and get this defense rolling - and please lets start hitting someone instead of trying to drag someone down, they will beat us all day long if you don't start hitting. I did see a few decent hits last night, but not near enough. Buna beats us plain and simple and we have no one to blame but ourselves.
Now  lets get out there and prove we can compete and bring it to them - sometimes you just have to be honest - Hornets all the way.

Man dont even come here wit that. that was the worst officiatin crew that I have ever seen. There was aaaallot of calls that was not called on Hardin last night. There was several dropped passes that was called catches when the ref was lookin at the ball on the ground. Hardin ran their mouth all night, but when buna finally got enough and sayin stuff back the refs wanted to start callin personals on Buna. Buna beat Hardin and the refs last night. Good Job Cougars.

going to be an interesting battle for playoff spots ..
ec did beat newton but under the circumstances, that
game should not of had to be played its too bad they are in district play.

could see newton losing no more, and anahuac beating ec.
leaving three one loss teams getting to the playoffs.  :o :o

outside looking in..

I am just trying to get comments on the game. People like SFA annoy me on these threads. Constantly running your mouth when people are giving props to the team that just beat the heck out of them.

that being said congrats buna on a big district win. def going to be interesting this year. hardin will continue to work and they will take care of their grades. good luck to all teams.

Hey basketballstar,  This is football were talking about, I didn't mean to hurt ur feelins, But when I have never seen a more one sided officiating crew (in favor of Hardin) and someone comes on here saying we got away with a few calls.  Anyone who seen the game knows thats a lie

I was at the game.  I did see a few non calls, esp pass interference both ways,  I saw a TD we scored, I saw our reciever push off to make the catch, was glad they did not call it, but the trip down before, there was interference from Buna that was not called. what about the buna kid, that pulled Hardins kids helmet off and threw it,  they called personal foul,.  but why wasnt he tossed?  You think they should not have called that one?

I agree we need better tackling, not grabbing practice.  Hit somebody please.  Lots of dropped catches too.  Open receivers not getting the ball. Miles ran for his life last night.  I heard grades will be a factor for the JV also.

This is one thing I have to agree on with sfa.. it was terrible refs.. it could have been called way better but I don't think the out come would have been any different if we brought pro refs to do this game.. I said bunas size was gonna hurt hardin from the get go.. and it did they ran smash mouth football all night and did it excellent.. but the kid that threw the helmet I didn't really see what happened but I think if any kid throws another kids helmet off the field they should be tossed...
