HJ/Silsbee district games

Saw the district schedule and HJ/Silsbee play first and sixth district game instead of 5th and 10th. Quite the contrast.

Silsbee's district schedule:

HJ      A
WOS    H
HF      H
OF      A
BC      H
HJ      H
WOS    A
HF      A
OF      H
BC      A

I had heard that they switched HJ to first. I wonder what their reasoning was.

This is correct. But you would think that since the district consists of the same schools that the district committee could just keep the status quo. ;)

Definately I already found it interesting that the football schedule was the same as last year as far as home and away, with one exception, WOS.

Football schedule is not the same. We played WOS 1st district game of the season last year, this year it's the 4th game.

I think the district powers have been reading this board and understand, based on the extremely credible evidence offered here, that HJ is no longer a threat to be in the top two in the district.  Therefore, the schedule was skewed to feature more important games such as Silsbee and H-F.  Bluedove may have thrown his weight around a little in this situation.  I am just hopeful that HJ can deliver at least a .500 district record this year.

it is not the district's job to determine what may be the best games in a district schedule

it is their job to draw an order of district games and then align volleyball and football district games and so on

Then that would bring the point of having the same schools in the distict back in play.  Since all remained the same why change any schedules??  It doesn't matter. In basketballs case, if things happen like they have in the past and H-J and Silsbee split and ended up tied for first, it would prevent the two from having to play two games back to back at the end of the year. It would spread out the 4 possible games.

[/quote]  I sure wish I could be as confident about that .500 as you are Dove.  After all, this board seems to provide a keener insight than most since there is such an abundance and depth of knowledge about the game and how it is/should be played.  I ask you, on what other board are there 5 or 6 "civilians" who know better than the coaches who to play and when?  Have you seen any other board where deep and intensive analysis brings to light the fact that the only really good players come from "across the tracks"? Have you seen any other board where people (other than the school hierarchy)come up with "four year plans"? On this board, you are even afforded the luxury of knowing which refs cheated and when.  (They cant even do that on ESPN).  My guess is that there is more intelligence, wisdom, objectivity, and basketball savvy on this board than any coaches board that exists.  When the general public becomes more aware of these facts, there is going to be a race to be a participant here.  To me, its a foregone conclusion that those wanting in will have to pay some sort of initiation fee to participate.

Can't argue with that.  It just seems it would be easiest when the teams remain the same for the schedules to remain the same.
