whsalum
This is really a sad situation. It will be years before this young man realizes what a 4 year free ride to Baylor not only cost but what it would have been worth once he got his degree. The folks that dealt out such light punishment when he got caught in high school have to share some of the blame. tvc184
I guess that he made his decision on the most important things in his life. Smoking dope was more important than a continued football career and a free education. Oh well............

Kville_Kats
Sad really sad....That a person would give up an education and possibly more, for a stupid rolled up illegal cigarette..I know his parents feel awful ...Not to mention the shame they feel...I hope he gets his life cleaned up for his own good and his family.. spoonbill
what's really unbelievable is that there are probably SEVERAL kids that go to college and "smokey the dopey" and don't get caught. this kid must be just absolutely foolish with it....or extremely unlucky. Mr. Buddy Garrity
Baylor knew he had a history of this. If he was smart he shouldve known he was gonna be watched for any slip up.

DW28
Perhaps the third time is the charm. With his talent a smaller school will probably take a chance on him and hopefully he will change and take advantage of the opportunity.

underarmor
everyone deserves a second chance. He has had his now give the scholarship to some deserving person who will appreciate the help thru school. There are plenty out there with great SAT scores that cant afford college.I still think scholarship students should have to complete college. No early outs for pro sports.JMO The scholarship should cover student to graduation from college. The minimum sem. hours students would be looked at very carefully by scholarship committees. Even 9 hours sem. can take 7 or 8 years to complete. Think of the cost of that scholarship. Might make someone think a little more.......................... In the incidence earlier this month the report said that he was asleep in the driver's seat of a car PARKED in the drive thru of a Taco Bell in Waco. When he got out of the car at the Police request there were baggies of marijuana in the floor board area on the driver's side. That seems pretty foolish to me but on the other hand he may have a complaint about Police profiling. The Cops were probably investigating every car that was parked in that Taco Bell drive thru with a sleeping driver that night - and in the words of Ron White, "That's profiling." Coach Schrapps
The lessons we learn in high school impact our life. Jefferson must have got the idea from his high school incident that he could do whatever he wanted and nothing would happen to him. Maybe if his high school coach would have come down hard on him he would have learned a lesson. Sad situation.
