BMTSoulja1 Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010
For the simple fact that Silsbee does not "schedule" it's homecoming designed around the opponent. It has a lot to do with what weekend is the best date wise (other events) and having the best atmosphere. Sometimes (due to schedule, other events like Band contest) homecoming for Silsbee is later in the season. Depending on how the district schedule is, sometimes tougher opponents end up being the homecoming game. I do know that a lot of people here in Silsbee has really liked the idea of having one of the best home games on the schedule as the homecoming game.
I understand that the district schedules are set in stone. You cannot change them.. With that being said, you still have your choice out of which home game you want for homecomming. Your players have a great deal in the homecomming. You don't want players all down after they got blown away, do you? Now if you are in a district with a bunch of powerhouses like 24-4a, THEN you have no choice.. Unless Brook feels as if they stand the best chance of a win against PAM. If that's the case, Memorial should have fire in their eyes right now...
Itch?Scratchit! Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Too many distractions on Homecoming. Most schools have bon fires on Thursday night and the kids stay up late. There is other things that usually go on that night after the bon fire that typically cause head aches the next morning. I'm not sure I would want them playing the biggest game of the year the next night?
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted October 17, 2010 Author Report Posted October 17, 2010 I think they did it on purpose. Thinking bout their lil win streak got into their heads. It's on Friday. >:(

AggiesAreWe Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 I agree, WBBear. Some folks are acting like little girls, crying about being disrespected.I am sure that West Brook "scheduled" PAM for homecoming JUST to disrespect them. ::) ::) ::)

Guest Newbie Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 TRIVIA QUESTION: Which District 21 5A team has the whiniest bunch of supporters. ;D ;D ;DSeriously. Sterling game was SAT weekend. Unlike some schools, our football players, band, cheerleaders, drill team members know what's more important. High school football is just that. So is homecoming. Ten years from now, they won't remember whether they won or lost @ homecoming but they'll remember what they made on their SAT. ;D ;D ;D
AggiesAreWe Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Perfect example as to why a homecoming is scheduled on a particular weekend. Other events, priorities come into play sometimes.

Just making a point. It should bee seen in Memorial's eyes as dissrespect. You know, for the players. You want a win on homecomming weekend. I still ay that if you schedule a powerhouse on homecomming night, you obviouly have some screws loose. I don't care how you slice it. If my squad did have a team on the chedule that were a powerhouse and we played them on homecoming night, THEN it would be a 'it is what it is' type of deal. I'm siding with Scooter on thi one... Schedule WO-S for Homecomming... Pst... ::) ::)

And I know you don't schedule any of the strong teams on your schedule for homecomming unless it's the circumstances that I've named in my previous post...Like I said, wwhatever... Neither team is my team so ohh well. Moving right along.. This should be an even great game with a little bit of added modivation... ;) ;)
