The Cleveland game was not ONE outstanding game, Edwards has around 1,400 rushing yards this season, which is more than Cummings, so yes you can say well Cummings shares carries and Edwards doesn't, so if he is sharing carries he is not the districts most valuable player, the award should go to Edwards because he plays, and leads his team in defense, and yes Deberry leads his offense, but he has Wittwher, Martin, Julian, and Grey that all do alot of the work for him, Edwards on the other hand shares the yards with the passing attack, but the ground game and the defense is his.

Yeah, I saw that after i already posted, Chron.com says Edwards is the leading rusher in 22-3A but SETX says Cummings and they get there stats from Chron, Beaumont Interprise and other places so I really dont know who has more.

Good point Swag, that's wat i was saying earlier in this post you can just be most valuable at one facet of the game it has to be all around at the high school level especially bc a lot of players play both ways. If Edwards is able to run effectively against coldspring and be a run stopper on defense like he did against other teams in district (not necessarily win the game) then he most definitely is more than deserving of this award.

DeBerry does not have a lot of yards on screens Fisherman..... DeBerry will surpass 3,000 yards in the playoff game... Those are great numbers for any QB....
If we take into account the good receivers at Huffman, then Liberty's O-Line should be MVP not Edwards.....RIGHT?

Given the format, wouldn't coaches just vote for whomever "hurt" them the most?  If I'm from Cleveland, I know that Edwards rushed for over 300 yds...Cummings didn't...DeBerry passed at will all night including late in the fourth quarter (sore subject).  I also know that Edwards ran the ball for four quarters, Cummings didn't rush much or at all in the fourth. Does this play into my decision or should I cast my vote to the Dist. Champ?  Also, wondering if there is only one MVP?  Do they do offensive MVP...defensive MVP...etc??

So couldn't all three of these get an MVP Honor?  If so, the "who's the best" conversation is kinda a moot point.  That is a lot of MVP's.  Do they honor the Most Valuable Mascot/Cheerleader/Twirler/Tuba Player/etc. as well?

IDK but lewis from shepherd was a very good linebacker best in the district!, he should be 1st them line backer hands down if not the defensive mvp

I believe that the best players on the best teams deserve to get MVP honors, (I would like to see the stats of the nominee's from huffman and liberty in their playoff games.). As far as all district picks go, I look at it this way, there aren't many spots on our defense or offense to where somebody from another team could do that position's job better, hence the fact we're about to play wimberly in the semifinals.

I have to answer your question and that answer is yes.
There has been a super bowl mvp given to the losing team.
Chuck Howley for the Dallas Cowboys in 1971 won the award in which they lost the game to the Baltimore Colts 16-13.  I know this because it was a controversial game in which the colts won over the Cowboys.  BTW, I am still a Cowboys fan.

You can take the returning players from Coldspring that made 1st or 2nd team All District last year and probably assume that most of them will show up again (somewhere) on the all district list again this year....Coldspring also has a few sophs who have stepped up and played well (Cooper, Sykes, & Scott) who will get consideration....Cummings (who moved back) is a shoe in and possible offensive MVP....

Coldspring should be really well represented this year and justifiably so...Probably going to be mostly Coldspring, Huffman, and few sprinkled in from remaining teams...

Just a side note....Was just looking at an article about Athens and they just had 23 players named to the All District team for this year...Not saying Coldspring will have that many but it could happen after the type of regular season Coldspring just had...I think Coldspring had 15+ on last years team(s)....

Most all-district selections are made on the Wednesday following the last regular season game.  Then all information is withheld until the last district team has be eliminated from the playoffs.

yeah coolwater is doin good in the playoffs althogh it was a close one against kirbyville... goodjob and they found a way to pull out the win vs athens they defense finally won them a game but as far as all district goes playoffs dont matter, because reed(cleveland) would start on any team in the district so would lewis(shepherd) shaw(shepherd) ross twins(cleveland) courvelle boys (shepherd) whittleman(shepherd) edwards(liberty) derberry and the wideouts from huffman, its plenty of guys that would start on the coldsprings playoff team right now hands down those were just a few, addison from splendora and couistimi (tarkington)

Reed & Lewis would start....Shaw starting over Cummings or Gilbert?  Probably not...Coldsprings leading rusher from last year (Tevin Bryant) didn't even get many carries this year and he's as capable as Shaw...Shaw might be a little faster but Bryant is a really good back that just got used on defense primarily after Cummings moved back...Ross twins yes, however, one didn't even play this year due to injury so he's probably not on this years team....

Courvelle boys...who knows?  Coldsprings current oline and dline seem to be getting the job done...Whittleman is a good athlete but Coldspring has quite a few players of his ability....The rest mentioned are good players but when Coldspring is beating these other players and their teams by wide margins it's hard to make a case for them getting the nod over the Coldspring players...

well they would start for sure and all the people i named would play somewhere on their team it dont have to be the position they play at their current schools now, but lewis or reed is gonna get defensive mvp i think they would have my vote. i would go with lewis though cause he played with emotion he was cocky and he back his talk up

Lewis should not win defensive MVP at all. There was nothing impressive about Shepherds defense I believe Coldspring and Huffman had at least 35 at half against them. Coldspring safety was impressive

Reed will probably get the Defensive MVP just for the fact he's going to UT. I don't think that's how it should work, but sometimes it works out like that. He is good enough to be the MVP, but probably not by a landslide like I think he will be.
