Haven't seen a true great back since Spearman and Mark Farr. Of course I didn't see the Tigers play for like 7 years.
Silsbee has a freshman QB and RB that IMO will start next year on varsity. The RB is another Spearman, Floyd Spearman. The QB could be another Jeremy Johnson. He is already '6"2 and plays like JJ.
Hmm is this one of that freshman bball team? If so what are the chances he ends up on the varsity this year?
Not likely, but maybe for playoffs.

I did not get to see McGuire and Rhone, but the duo of Artie Shankle and Derek Shelton was pretty darn good as well. Both D1 running backs.
BADSANTA Posted October 26, 2010 Author Report Posted October 26, 2010 What backfield had the most rushing yards in Silsbee history! I think is was that McGuire backfield right.

BADSANTA Posted October 27, 2010 Author Report Posted October 27, 2010 Who would you vote the best WR? Sid Wilson?
AggiesAreWe Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010
Who would you vote the best WR? Sid Wilson?
Nope. William Garrett or Desmond Doss. William Garrett went on to play in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Desmond Doss is still to this day the only Silsbee athlete to be named district MVP in both football and basketball in the same year.
Silsbeetx Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 anybody could have beat up on 3A kids... remember who played when we where 4A ...then dropped down to 3A... buna orangefield hardin jefferson... the best running back #9 jay mcguire

BADSANTA Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 William Garrett was good! Forgot about him. Silsbee hasn't had any great backs since dropping to 3A that I'm aware of.

I would also consider Sid Wilson along with Desmond Doss to be one of the two best receivers of the past 20 years.
BADSANTA Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 What year did Desmond Doss play? I graduated in 98 and have been in Houston and Miami for 12yrs?

fishing862 Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 the year Graham, Airline, and Lewis played there were 11 teams in the district, that's 10 district games with teams like Jasper, Cleveland, BC, Crosby, Hebert. There was no easy week and they produced every week. You'll never see a backfield like that again.
