Lefty99 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Just wanted to wish everyone good luck when hitting the woods this weekend. We've got all the makings of a great weekend with the cold weather and no moon. Post pics and or tells stories when you get back.
Lefty99 Posted November 7, 2010 Author Report Posted November 7, 2010 Saw alot of deer this weekend. Nothing in the mornings until 10:30 on my way out. 7 does at that point but too far(not sure of the yardage) to get a shot.Got a spike yesterday evening right at sun down. I am on the board! ;D
ST413 Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Just saw a real nice 6pt. not wide enough to shoot good forks and tall.
Lefty99 Posted November 7, 2010 Author Report Posted November 7, 2010
Just saw a real nice 6pt. not wide enough to shoot good forks and tall.
I have alot of pics with good young 6pt. and 8pts on my place too. Going to be dandy in a yr or two. There is an 8pt. that has a tag saved if he decides to show himself. I also noticed a few fresh rubs but in all the pics I have of bucks non had a thick neck, fight marks, etc. The pics on my camera date back 2 1/2 weeks and non in that time span show the tell tale signs of the rut. I do think it is getting close though...at least where I am at. Even the spike I got. His tarsel glands were clean and had no smell....it was the first thing I inspected when i got to him.
ST413 Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Have seen mixed signs of the rut in both woodvill and lumberton areas. Even saw 3 bucks trailing a doe in Lumberton 2 weeks ago.
bullets13 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 apparently there is a MONSTER running around on our lease, but i won't have a shot at him until Thanksgiving week, so hopefully he's still around. My uncle, who's probably killed well over 100 deer over the years swears he's a B & C typical, and that's not all that common in the area i hunt.
