LamarStatesports Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 The Lamar State College-Port Arthur men’s basketball team moved their season record to a perfect 5-0 Monday night at home in the Carl Parker Center with a 108-70 victory over the Houston Blaze.The Blaze was drafted as a last-minute opponent after the Stephen F. Austin State University Basketball Club called Lamar State head coach Matt Cross at noon today to announce they weren’t going to come to Port Arthur.Lamar State trailed in the early going and finally took the lead at the 12-minute mark of the first half. The Seahawks pulled ahead by as many as 10 points, but let the Blaze close to three points with three minutes left in the half.Lamar State led by 11 points at half-time and closed the game up 38.Three sophomore guards did most of the damage for Seahawks. Keenen Coleman led the team with 28 points, including six three-pointers. David Laury had 19 points and Vonn Jones added 11. Lamar State will be home Saturday Nov. 20, for a final non-conference tune-up against Delgado Community College from New Orleans.The Seahawks begin their Region XIV conference schedule Tuesday, Nov. 23, at home against Lon Morris College.
