Do you really understand what your saying??? Sometimes your posts cracks me up. Manvel plays in a very tough district and will be a great test for us.
Galveston Ball was the only cake walk in 24-4A... Competition is stiff win or lose!
Texas City 3-1 going into District (including win over PNG)
Sante Fe 4-0 going into District
*Dawson 2-2 going into District (non-district losses to 5A playoff teams )
*La Marque 4-0 going into District ...
*Friendswood 4-0 going in District
*Still playing in the 3rd round of 2010 Playoffs

Don't let these teams record fool you... most losses came during district play.

You can not look at a teams record before district this is High School Football! Key injuries at any point in the season in HS Football makes a big difference. Coaches are still trying different alignments, sets, etc etc to see what works for their team. This isnt college or NFL where if a three or four star player gets hurt there is another 3 or 4 star player waiting on the bench to take his place.

District 20-4a preseason

Central 1-2 both losses to 5a playoff teams.
Ozen 1-2 both losses to 5a playoff teams.
LCM 3-0 preseason only lost 3 games in district but didn't make the playoffs and put some points on the board this year and had key injury at end of season.
Livingston 3-0 preseason only lost 3 games in district got beat by a good Dayton team in playoffs
Lumberton 3-0 preseason had many injuries throughout the year had Central beat until the last two minutes of game.
Nederland 1-2 preseason. Had injuries and a lot of team turmoil at the beginning of season. Has been a back and fourth year for them.
Vidor 0-3 preseason I guess you could say they were a pushover but they always play tough everygame.
Then PNG They start the season 1-4 and have not looked in the rear view mirror since.

I would say both of these districts are tough.

Hey. Anyone going early to the stadium for a tailgate party. I would say thats gonna be the next step for high school football games since all the stadiums are catching up with college ball. Thinking about doing it myself!

My crew will be there early.

Port Neches-Grove (8-4), vs. Manvel (10-2), 7:00 Saturday at Baytown's Stallworth Stadium
Notes: Like Pearland Dawson-Montgomery, I think the scoreboard could get a little hot in this one. Port Neches-Groves -- which I affectionately call the zombies on our radio show, because we thought they were dead long ago -- is a very good passing team that has gotten great play out of RB Chase Bertrand of late, and Manvel's two-QB system is equally potent. PN-G hails from a competitive district, no question, but Manvel has endured more to get here. I'll take the Mavericks.
DCTF's pick: Manvel 41, Port Neches-Groves 33

For starters i think this is going to be a great football game...PN-G might be getting over looked here...ya our defense isn't the best...it has it's moments! Some good some bad! But on the other side of the ball there is amazing talent in Doty(Qb),Bertrand(RB),Nelson(WR),Jalali(WR),The entire O-line...these are players that havent been stopped...Manvel's defense will have its hands full with the PN-G offene! On the other hand PN-G's defense will have it's hands full also! Manvel has a great number of athlete's.Get ready folks this game is going to be a doozy. High score affair. I think PN-G wins 45-42..
Good Luck guys

All I can say is that I am ready for this game to get started!!!! Gonna be a lot of fun to watch... This game like any other game could go either way.  I will make the same statement if ... PNG can make 2-3 defensive stops they win this game... I have no doubt PNG will light up the score board again. I gotta good feeling about this game dont know why just do... I think Coach has got a good plan together for the defense... looking forward to PNG making a statement with this win tomorrow night..

Should be a great game and you can bet I'll be there. 24-4a is where i am looking for talent. Manvel has 6 linemen over 6'4" and 300lbs. I read in an earlier post that one of Manvel's QBs has an offer. I know factually that 9 Manvel starters have offers and we are looking at 4 on the 2nd string. What we love about m=Manvel's depth is that 3rd and 4th quarters are normal played by Manvel's 3rd and 4th string players.
::)
And it is not true - Manvel has not had many if any games where they could play the bench - he is just yanking chains like some of the SETX regulars - believe me, no bench players played in the 3 manvel games I watched.
Only games Manvel didn't play the bench in the 3rd and 4th were LaMarque, Friendswood, Dawson & Terry!
8 games out of 12... starters watched from the bench.
Or Santa Fe. And that would be 4 of your 6 district games. Nor did you against Ft Bend Austin. Man that predistrict schedule was really tough Mavericks! I do expect yall to beat PNG by 14 at least. You have too many weapons and their D can be vulnerable, gave up 47 points to Willis!!

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
