I thought that he had been in playoffs 16 out of 18 years.
WITH EVERY BODY PRETTY MUCH MAKING THE PLAYOFFS IT IS NOT VERY HARD.... WELL 4 OUT OF THE 7 TEAMS GOING...HOW ABOUT A DISTRICT TITLE IN 20 YEARS ;)
Everyone wants a state title. How many area 4A teams have won a state title in the last 20 years?
Nederland needs a [glow=red,2,300]DISTRICT TITLE [/glow] in the last 18 years not a state title
Isn't it true that Nederland would be the 20-4A district champions this year, if they had stopped Central from scoring in the final minutes??
False..They'd be Co-District Champs with PNG and Central, but could claim DC because of wins over both teams.

PNG ran a spread offense the past two years without a Cam Newton type at QB. Ran it very, very well to be exact. You need a Cam Newton Tpe to run the Spread Option! Besides Nederland had the closest thing to a Cam Newton Type this year. 6'5" 245 lb QB. Just couldn't run.  ;D
He ran just good enough, don't you think? OK nit-picker, don't you think PNG would have maybe even won state with a Cam Newton type QB.....just a thought. That's being very successful.

No. I dopnt. Our offense scored. Having a Cam Newton Type would not have made a difference. Having an Auburn Defense Would!!! We lost because of our Defense or lack their of. Our offense could score on anyone.

Point being made is that Nederlands problem the past few years has not been its Spread Offense. It's been the fact that the OLine was not very good. If the OLine is not good it doesn't matter what offense you run!

Anybody wanting to fire Larry Neuman is crazy.  Hes the best coach in the area.  If he had players like PNG and Central he,d win district every year.
Wow! What are you smoking? PNG does not have great athletes like Central, to compare the two is ridiculous. PNG and ned's athletes are comparable. The difference is PNG has the coaching to run the wide open, no huddle offense. Putting 3 or 4 wide outs and running out of the shotgun doesn't make you a spread offense. Look at where the PNG offensive coaches have come from and where the" home grown" ned coaches come from. PNG has coaches that have the coaching background to run a spread type offense, ned coaches don't.
Gotta agree that  Ned and PNG have comparable athletes.  The last 2 years Png has probably had (overall) the edge in athletes, especially healthy ones. When one season ends, coaches start preparing for the next by putting  the kids they have returning in the best positions to win. But, just as the last 2 seasons begin, you lose Bellows Smith and Forney...thats the breaks, but it sure changes everything. Losing these kids as well as many others has nothing to do with there coaching background, nor does it have a thing to do with them being homegrown.  Larry is 1-1 against Faircloth, in spite of the homegrown coaching and there lack of background with the spread offense.

That's the quote of the year right there, man, just spit up my cornflakes.  Neumann and his homegrown dufuses gave the geniuses from across the tracks all they wanted with their 4th string QB last year.  This year they outcoached the geniuses from across the tracks on both sides of the ball.  I'll take our homegrown morons and go to war with you guys anyday.  Just curious, I take it you may have graduated from PNG?  Are you saying that you or people you graduated with from PNG, can't compete with the best in the world at what they do?  I'm not sayin Ned has the best coaches in the world by a stretch, but to say that people from Nederland or PNG can't be the best at what they do is frikkin RIDICULOUS.  Again, let me clean up the milk I just spewed out my nose.

I got a question. If Nederland has the best coaches in the district and they should be winning district every year, how in the world did they manage to get beat by a 2-8 Vidor team?

Being a Vidor Fan and a Parent of two players let me answer this one for you.  Nederland Lost the game because #9 and and two of there LB were in street clothes that night.  The two Long runs we got late was because we knocked out there starting middle LB also.  And 9 would have run down both of those runs that won the game.  Vidor had its own issues with a young but talented team.  Lets not get into a pissing contest with PNG and Nederland fans about whos coaches or athletes are better.  We have our own issues there.  You know, Glass House and All.

That's funny right there! Three seasons ago we had a coach that said he didn't have the talent to compete with Nederland, now we got a new coach and someone from Nederland is saying this about our talent. Prooves what good coaching does for ya.

One of these seasons Neuman will have a healthy team and he will no doubt be DC again. The man can coach.

Has Nederland football ever been state ranked. If so what was the highest ranking. I assume it would have been in 2001 when Ned made it to the semi's. Thanks
Cant remember there ranking but, Ned was ranked in 2001....and also several times in the 90s.

My guess is Nederland would've been ranked in 99 and 00... I doubt 01, they really got off to a lousy start, so not sure if they cracked the rankings during the 10 week regular season??? Don't matter when you're in the state semi-finals though.

The '99 team with Sullivan was 9-0 and ranked 9th when they came to the Reservation. PNG was 8-1 (lost a nail bitter to WOS). The Dogs left unranked and 9-1 after a 31-8 beatin'!

Wasn't that the year you met Stephenville and Superman? Ned then proceeded to reel off three straight....35-10 ring a bell?

I remember Ned being ranked as high as #8 in the early going. The only ranking that matters is when the season is over.  ::)

Yes it was the year PNG met Stephenville and Superman in the STATE TITLE GAME. I honestly can't remember the last time PNG was actually in the top 10 of the state polls. Of course the polls are weeks 0-10 only. In 99 we obviously finished the season top 10.

35-10 does ring a bell..It's one way to get back from Austin! ;D

    • SMH Silsbee will not tank against WO-S. Just won't happen. Mustangs were just that much better than Silsbee. Besides, #3 seed basically has to play the same teams as #2 seed other than first round. From what I saw with Sweeny and Brookshire, BR was the better team than Sweeny.
    • For sure.  They can take it to anyone if they want it, and if they play with the intensity that they had last Thursday.  Last Thursday game reminded me of the last 2 season's teams.
    • The numbers on those charts reflect all age groups and not just HS age Students. Another thing to remember,  some parents of school age kids might work in neighboring districts and choose to have their child in the district they are employed.  Not always the case but it is something to remember
