This, after his UNT team lost to Kansas State 49-41.  Yes, KSU is down this year, but still a B12 program with lots of money and talent.  In a short period of time Canales got his players to buy in and "play hardnose football" for him.  And UNT had 10 or so starters out for the season.

I talked to Canales at a camp for a while. He seems to be a very sincere guy. I can see why the boys would want to play for him and I wish him all the best.

It was a lot more pleasant then meeting Mac Brown! Mac wacked me on the head and I thought about punching him for a split second!!!  :D

UNT will have the best of both worlds.  McCarney annunced his first hire.  Yep, Mike Canales was named Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator.  Exciting times in Denton.
