Big east might be a joke but atleast merka will be PLAYING D1 FBS football. Which dayton players from this years team are gonna be doin that? Get off Merka he is the best football player in the district that's why he has a scholarship to TCU. We can argue all day who should have won mvp. Fact is it don't really matter. Merka won't even remember this after they are winnig BCS bowls at TCU.
Wright (MVP) is going to SMU, Boothe to Rice, Baldwin and Ripkowski undecided. Now who else besides Merka is even goin to college on crosby's team?

If someone else is paying for you to go to school, then I don't care if it's CUSA, Big 11, PAC12 or whomever.
Good luck and get that degree.

Idk if anyone else is going to college from crosby. You would have to ask some of their fans. I find it interesting that you are bashing merka playing the big east when wright is gonna play in CUSA. Lol
Not bashing him are the big east. I was just saying that just because he is going to tcu doesn't automatically gives him mvp of the district. D1 is D1 to me. Good luck to merka and who ever else is going to play ball, reguardless if it is D1, D2, or Jr. college, represent 19-4a well.

You said "that won't be hard, the big east is a joke" in response to someone else saying merka would do good in the big east. I never said merka should be mvp cause he was going to TCU. I said he should have won because he was more important to his team than anyone else in the district.

Then let's make it happen. Bronco stadium but Stewart Field. I got a thousand to put down for a bronze statue or bust of Coach Stewart.

maybe we could bronze a pair of merka's cleats and you could put those on your mantel, next to a picture of the 42-3 SCOREBOARD
It is not the Big12 or SEC where you have to play every week. I dont think it is as competitive as c-usa. I think crosby  could have lived without because that would have forced them to put the ball in hebert and scotts hand more. crosby was to dependent on merka and didn't allow the other players to show there skills. I see the same thing happening with the two twins on the freshman team. Let those two play some defense. Don't limit them they are your best players and half the game there not participating on the field. The same with scott & hebert over half the game they are just watching merka. NO GOOD

Well love dayton football and i dont know how ah beat out merka for the 1st all-discrict. I find it hard to beleive that even one coach in our discrict would rather have ah than merka. So as much as i hate to agree with crosby i have to on this one.

If you look at numbers, it's simple.

Now, merka for MVP is a different story. There's a case there.

What numbers are you talking about. merka threw for more yards a ran for like 1000 yards.
Name              Comp Att  Pct    Yds  TD  INT
Dominic Merka  143    306  46.73  2101 12  10
Name              Comp  Att  Pct    Yds  TD  INT
Andres Herrera  125  188  66.49  1642  16  5

how about completion percentage, TDs and INTs

QB is less about running and more about throwing. I've stated numerous times.... merka has a case for MVP...maybe even Utility/Ath. Not QB. I know his receivers weren't good, but that's part of it.

If you dont think running is a big part of being a qb in a spread offense tell that to Cam Newton fixing to win the heisman.
yes... but not everyone in the district runs the spread, so it's not really a fair comparison, even though AH and DM's teams do.

I think a QB should be able to pass and run, and he doesn't run well, that is why last year he came out of the game in third down situations. He is not the best, he's the best they got, period!

The difference is I could get an Autograph if i wanted one. Merka was a little brother of one of my good friends my defense of him is because he's a great kid as much as he's a great athlete. I don't want a bronze anything of Merka. The only things that get bronzed shape the world, not a small podunk community like Dayton.

If your a PASSING QB and not a true Spread QB Like AH then you need that kind of completion percentage and about 500/600 more yards than Merka to win that award in my opinion, just because completion percentage has so much to do with dropped passes. I guarantee you, you factor out drops and Merka's completion percentage is in the high 50's and he still has more passing yards. But to be fair when factoring in QB's you have to take all thier stats.

add 147 rushing attempts for 995 yards and 12 TD's and your left with

Merka has 3096 total yards 24 total TD's and 10 PICS
Herrea has Less than 2000 total yards and 14 td's and 5 PICS
Look at those lines and tell me 1st string all district QB let alone Offensive MVP should be MERKA.

you can't factor them out.... if you do that you have to pretend that AH threw the same amount of pass attempts as merka thus inflating ydg, tds, and pic #'s. The reason I was leaving out rushing is because not everyone in district runs the same offense, and that's why I think that you've got to look at it from a passing standpoint. I totally get that merka's a bigger, stronger runner.

No big deal.... I backed Merka from day one on getting a superlative. We'll agree to disagree.

BTW, you've been saying "to be fair" a lot. :D
Posted
so to be fair, Harrea not playing in the second half of almost all the district games have any bearing on his stats being lower then Merka?
