Lamar State College-Port Arthur remained unbeaten this season after routing the Texas Riders, 98-74, Monday night in the Carl Parker Center.

Freshman forward David Laury led Lamar State with 26 points. Three other Seahawks scored in double figures – Keenen Coleman (16), Vonn Jones (14) and Gordon Ball (10). Roman Vaughn added nine points for the home squad.

Sharp-shooting guard Justin Johnson led the Riders with 29 points, including seven 3-pointers.

The Seahawks now are 8-0 overall, matching their record-setting 2009 season start. They go into Wednesday night’s conference matchup at San Jacinto College in Pasadena with a 1-0 record in Region XIV play.

San Jacinto also is unbeaten this year and ranked No. 5 in the nation in the most recent NJCAA weekly poll. The 11-0 Ravens have are 1-0 in conference play, a 77-71 overtime victory over Blinn College.

Lamar State will be home Saturday for a 4 p.m. game against Region XIV rival Jacksonville College.
