For many months, you have identified Mr. Joubert as the ultimate coach- the standard by which all other coaches would be judged. Davis really doesnt know that much about basketball, they just gave him the job probably because he grew up in the "city" on 105 and knew a lot of the individuals who participate in the "conspiracy" ::) :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(

Can't leave out the 1's who sincerely believe they don't have to work hard or earn anything because of "Who they are and Who they know." That too is also sort of bad because their offspring are more likely to embrace those same thoughts and values of their parents.

Maybe Bluedove can help me out with this 1 ;D ;D ;D
There you go pulling me into this trap ;D Bosha knows what happens when Lil Dove (2014) is holding him straight up man to man. :o
Lil Dove or Littlest Dove (2015) can't handle Bosha. Let me see, 6'3 and growing vs 5'5 and 5'6. I suggest you stop it before i stop it!! ;D ;D ;D
Whats been the history when they meet and play each other...hmmm? And I won't get into games in Houston....hmmmm I've seen games you have no idea what happened ;)
FYI, I was there this summer when the Hoops played Team Sneed, the Boyd's and Bosha was injured. Like u didn't already know that ;)
huh? Injured? Those were 7th graders who beat those older kids by a WIDE margin..I repeat, 7th graders!!!!!!!!!!! Injured? Really! Oh okay1
Yes, Injured!! His hip was bothering him from the beginning. He played like 2 mins, and you know your boys are way older then Josh Boyd (12yrs old) a 6th grader.
I wish people know their facts. LITTLE Boyd is older than my 2015, who is now 13.
Probably most of this bantering doesnt matter. See where you stand among your own peers in your class.
Dove_ i was speaking of elementary school kids. Have personally witnessed a number of kids who absolutely dominated at certain levels and then were so-so at best later on. Most of them did not blame someone else for their circumstances. But there were/are a few who sincerely believe they were one step away from the NBA if others had not mistreated them. Sort of too bad because their offspring are likely to embrace the thoughts/values of the parent(s) and that failed approach becomes self perpetuating.
Thats not the only thing that will be self perpetuating. I have coached "B" teams for many years and have seen more than a fair number of my kids play significantly for varsity squads by the time they were juniors and seniors. I have also seen the opposite, where a kid is all world in Jr. High and a bench sitter his senior year.

" THIS IS THOUGHTFUL QUOTE FROM SCALABRINE.I couldnt agree more with you Betrayed, I mean Swag,I mean Scalabrine. You are absolutely right. Those that try to "make it" based upon who they know or who they are will ultimately pay the price by not succeeding. After they have failed, they will then try to suggest that somebody else was their downfall when, all along, it was their own fault. (But of course, those same type of "failers" will not be smart enough to come to that conclusion) A few of them will become disgruntled and resort to panic type efforts such as mounting an internet campaign to discredit successful people with whom they have personal issues. Heck, some will try to write articles about how improper it is to coach your own kid in football, etc. etc. Its an effort to elevate oneself by trying to drag down others - same principle though, not making an effort where it will get results. I don't know a lot but I know for sure that those efforts are HIGHLY counterproductive and ultimately come home to roost near the perpetrator who, as always, just can't understand why he is getting "mistreated" or "not sufficiently respected" The other difficult part in all of this is to define what "working hard" means. To some, it means your efforts in basketball. To others, its a broader approach that encompasses most everything in life. For those that chose the latter, it can really come in handy if you don't make it to the NBA. And they will generally do quite well when challenged intellectually by the guy who "just knew" he was the next Michael Jordan but whose success was ruined by somebody else. I think even Michael JOrdan found out that when it comes to baseball, it ultimately didnt matter who he was or who he knew.

Keep it simple. reading, writing & math and dribble, shoot, and pass.Teach the fundamentals and have a back-up plan.
Agreed. But in keeping it simple, its important to realize that the individual himself will determine what happens to him. To truly believe that whatever you fail to achieve is not your fault but the fault of someone else will waste much of ones productive energies and hold him back from other successes and not just in basketball. Its very harmful to oneself to believe that you are entitled to something simply because you come from a background that includes a lot of material things. However, it is EQUALLY harmful to believe that if you did not come from that type of background that you are MORE entitled to anything or that your efforts are more noble than that of someone else more fortunate. Particulary if you try to secure something you want at the expense of someone else. Dove, I have never seen the middle school kid that is coming up through the system at HF. But I have heard that he has no equals around here. The odds are still very much stacked against him going to North Carolina or playing for the Celtics. If he gets to a point where he believes that he didnt get there because of his middle school or high school coach, he will have problems in most aspects of his life. Anything else that doesnt work will suddenly also be attributable to someone else. Its a poor approach and it NEVER works in the long run.
Betrayed
Also can't forget about the overindulged and pampered 1's that may grow up spoiled, unhappy and unable to handle life’s challenges without daddy. I call these "cornucopia kids" because they expect life to be like a cornucopia, or horn of plenty — providing them with an endless supply of good things they don’t have to work for. "Like starting positions, Jobs, etc, etc, etc" ;)In this age the number of "cornucopia children" ;D has grown to epidemic proportions, although parents would rather not admit this. Children with cornucopia complexes grow up with the expectation, that the good life will always be available for the asking — without effort and without need for personal accountability." When they face the adult world, "cornucopia kids" fail as they are unable to handle challenges, they shaft others, or get fired from jobs or just can't get that job they always wanted, while some are more likely to turn into "Alcoholics or Gamblers."Much of the blame, must be heaped upon the parents. Parents have a tendency to choose to favor or prioritize their children. They expect to get everything they want, when they want it, and complain bitterly if they don’t get it. Because of this, they "shower" their kids with things and favors to make up for it, hoping to ease their guilt. They have little sincere compassion or sensitivity to the needs and feelings of others. They respond only to their own needs and kind!!

And the fact that you grew up in a privileged background entitles you to NOTHING. ON the other hand, being from a less than privileged background, as I said before, ALSO entitles one to NOTHING. AS for not having sensitivity to the needs and feelings of others, that characteristic has no boundaries and happens in ALL areas of society. And thats a very valid reason why none of us, regardless of background, should belittle those who are trying to educate our children, particularly on a message board. Thw winners (in llife as opposed to basketball) will adjust and the losers wont. But I am very confident that introspection takes one a lot further along than laying blame elsewhere.
