The Game

Well it is set the HJ Hawks will play the Bridge City Cardinals this Friday night at HJ's field behind the old China Elementary school off of Hwy 90. The game will begin at 7pm "one more Friday night lights". We will have a light concession stand (chipped beef sandwiches) and drinks, and hot choc. will be flowing. Come on out and watch these 2 super bowl teams go at it for a good cause. All profits from concession will go to charity.

It was a great game, one of the hardest hitting I have seen at this age. Most of the game was played between the forty yard lines as it was a push and shove match, with no one wanting to give an inch. The BC boys are big and fast with some outstaning athetes. If these 2 teams went at it for 4 games my money would be on a draw on the win loss tally. The HJ Hawks prevailed on the field this night but the true winner will be the Childrens Miracle Network because this is where the money made from concession will go this year.

  3 children (girl aged 4 and 2 boys aged 7 and 9) will have a Merry Christmas this year thanks to the sportsmanship and generosity of the STJFL/Lonestar youth football leagues. The money raised from our concession combined with a couple of donations I had from private individuals towards this football project was enough that these children will have a GREAT Christmas and the parents will have plenty of food on the table for the holiday season. My friends this is what sportsmanship is all about.
  I think this turned out better than my HJ coaches, and the Bridge City coaches expected, and would love to see it become a holiday tradition.
