Yes they did.  It was pitiful  My DD was on the sidelines yelling at them to quit being babies and get out there and play till the end. Last week they got too arrogant, this week they just give up.

She was just mad because it seemed like they were giving up.  What was up with all the personal fouls? Everyone complains of them playing dirty, but I don't watch much football so I haven't learned to spot all that yet.

Take that rumor with a grain of salt.  As for La marque... 4 or 5 of the personal foul calls were on blocking calls on the kick offs and punts... there wasn't any dirty ball scuffling or anything going on... just too many mistakes.  Matter-of-fact our only true problem tonight was the La Marque Cougars.  We got beat fair and square.

You are right, I never heard that until last week against PNG. Unfortunately that was the first game I have been to all season since I was busy with my daughter & softball.  Today it just seemed like a flag was thrown every play and it was always against Manvel for one thing or another.

[/quote]  Really, I can't believe some of you guys are still on here crying about the PNG vs. Manvel game... The problem wasn't how many flags Manvel had against you guys.  The problem was how many TD's they had!  The sooner you realize that the better off you'll be.  Alot of the PNG penalties were provoked and was retaliation.  Look at PNG vs Willis film and watch how you guys acted.  Manvel should have just kept their cool, because you guys were an easy victory anyway.

Embarrasing reply. The last thread was locked because we were all understanding how some of the classy
PNG players were provoking the Manvel kids with their comments about background. I do not think you would want to brand an entire team or town with what these PNG players did, so lets just nip this in the bud.

Yes back in 96 or 97 La Marque won state in d2 and Texas City won it in D1.  I believe it was 23-4a back then though.

[/quote]1997,La Marque won it's third consecutive State Title. 1995 was the last unified title in Class 4A ,1996 and 1997 were in Class 4A Div. II. Texas City was the champion in Div I in 1997. La Marque went to the title again in 1998, making it 6 consecutive years. The only time that was done by any team in any division in the State of Texas was in the early 1920's, which was Waco. Unfortunately that powerhouse of a team from Stephenville kept La Marque from winning it in 3 of those 6 years.

I was squashed numerous times while trying to give him a little recognition on this popular website. He is playing with pain though, has two bad ankles going into the playoffs. He could (yeh..yeh I know. If Ands and Butts don't get you anything) very easily be approaching 2500 yards by now if not hampered by them. But that is part of the game.

Well done LM. I know things were tough when the team was under performing earlier in the year, but nice turnaround. Keep it up - we tried to tell everyone we have the toughest district in the state, now 2 regional champs later, we may have convinced some folks. proud of you guys!!

This Manvel Dad here is proud of you guys as well as Friendswood!  Go get'em!  Represent the District!  I've seen bunch of teams in these playoffs that Sante Fe and Texas City would have crushed... Yet they were sitting at home because of the strength of 24-4A.  Do them a favor & make them proud!  No disrepect to any other district, but every Friday night is battle in 24-4A.
