They have one "big" player, '6"4 Stallworth. Silsbee is mostly guards and that is what is driving this team. (Stallworth plays in and out). Silsbee is pushing the ball up the floor, shooting three's, attacking the basket, and throwing "in your face" defensive pressure every trip down the floor. Silsbee is a guard oriented team this year. They are nothing like they have been the past few years. Speed, speed, speed!!!They will win based on their guards, I agree. AggiesAreWe
Locally, there were only 2 teams off for Tuesday night (not counting Kirbyville who were the ones who canceled their game with Silsbee causing this situation) Coach Williams is also looking outside our area for a game for Tuesday night. shooter
Most of today's society has taken a strong stance on discipline - WE DON'T WANT ANY! I commend Travis on his stance and respect him even more since this article was published.

Is Jasper playing kountze tomorrow? I saw it in one place but not another. The only other school I saw anywhere close was Pasadena Rayburn and that could have been an incomplete schedule. bobbymcgee
We need MORE coaches like Travis Williams. I really wish Ozen would have hired him because they could really use the discipline that he brings to the table. And you know why it was front page news? Because they know it is the best basketball program in the area! Sorry but if Hamshire-Fannett or Orangefield had the same rules it would not be on the front page and not even be in the sports section. It is safe to say Silsbee basketball is the area's equivalent of WO-S football.

Can Silsbee beat HJ twice this year and Cleveland?[/quote]Well, my answer is yes and yes - but it's way too early to go out on that limb. Let's watch and enjoy the team improvement as we head for the first HJ clash. You remind me of my wife with all the anticipation of things to happen in the future. Enjoy the "Right now" of your life and of this basketball season. ;D

ST413
Yes the Tigers are mising that state title, and I will not say they are the best progra in the area. However, I do not feel that a state title makes you a better program. Kountze, HJ and Ozen have the state titles and tradition to be listed. Ozen only has the one state title though. The Tigers can be put right up top with these teams just based on consistency alone as far back as I can remember. Very few years that I can remember that they haven't been one of if not the best in the area.

BADSANTA
The mother who made the Quanel X statement seems to not realize that a matter of hair isn't up for a debate. If the coach says he wants his players to wear their hair low and neat then that's what it is. Just like a job, you can't abide by the rules then don't accept the job. I read the article and I totally agree with Travis. Each and everyone of the students represent the community and school. Travis is doing something most coaches are scared to do.
