LamarStatesports Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 The Lamar State College-Port Arthur men’s basketball team opened a four-game non-conference home stand Friday night in the Carl Parker Center with a 111-67 victory over Southern Sport Academy, a prep school team from Jackson, MS.The Seahawks led by 20 points, 53-33, at half-time on sophomore wing Keenen Coleman’s 19 points. Coleman finished with a game-high 27 points. Three other Seahawks hit for double figures – freshman forward David Laury (17), sophomore guard Vonn Jones (17) and freshman guard Jordan Walker (13). Raheem England led Southern Sport Academy with 15 points.The two teams will meet again at 11 a.m. Saturday.Lamar State also will play at 7 p.m. Monday against the Texas Southern University Basketball Club, and at 7 p.m. Tuesday against New Horizon Prep School.The victory moves Lamar State’s overall record to 10-2.The Seahawks are 2-2 in Region XIV action after defeating conference rival Lee College, 76-64, Wednesday night in Baytown. Lamar State returns to conference action right after the holiday break, traveling to Angelina College in Lufkin on Jan. 5.
