THE MOST DRAMATIC BASEBALL GAME EVER PLAYED TO BE AIRED TONIGHT

copied off blog

"Tonight the MLB network will air Game Seven of the 1960 World Series. It's the first time the game will be seen since October 13, 1960, the day it was played. As I understand it, a film of the game was uncovered recently in the wine cellar of then-Pirate part-owner Bing Crosby (1960 was a very good year). Crosby couldn't make it to Game 7 because he was out of the country (in some accounts he did not attend out of superstition). So he had someone film the television broadcast"

I had always seen this as just a snippet, never in the context of the entire game.  That was cool to see, as well as all of the subplots.  I had forgotten that this was the game that Tony Kubek took the ball to the throat (no I wasn't alive to see it but dad is a Yankees fan so I heard about it alot).

It was also good to see Bill Virdon smile, given that I never saw that when he managed the Astros...even when they won the Division pennant in 1980.
