Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted December 19, 2010 Author Report Posted December 19, 2010 This play made ESPN's top 10 at #3!!!
Cougtalk Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 HAHHAHA! yeah Crosby uses the same play scored on it 3x 1 got called back for some reason. Against BH/CE King it was a TD against GP they called it back.
belle-mere Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Watching that play was surreal--I couldn't believe my eyes--had to see it over and over. I bet poor Trinity never wants to look at it again. Dang, that was good!
knightrider Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Worked to perfection. lol :D :D :D
PNG Proud Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Boy, nowadays, ya gotta be ready for EVERYTHING! Good coaches are really pulling out some cool plays.

bh89-2 Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Tronity was very big, but they were not deserving a #1 national ranking. They made a lot of mistakes in the 1st half and their runningback was not near the back Jonathan Gray is for Aledo. My opinion. Having said that, Pearland was far smaller and has less overall talent, but they played more sound football than did Trinity.

90PNGNDN Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 I never heard the whistle start...I was commenting how I hated having to wait for the man in red (ala fox sports guy) to give the okay to start the game back...I looked down and next thing I know I see the ball in the air and TD! What a great call to catch them off guard. I was originally going for Trinity, but their fans started annoying me...1...2...3....First down. They did that every single first down and it got old fast.
playdefense Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 kudos to them for running that play. great timing. probably going to use all four downs in that situation anyway so why not take a chance. i wonder what was supposed to happen if trinity did react - throw it away, qb scramble, etc. anyway great play call.
Guest Newbie Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 here's another looks at that play link ;D

There was no rush on the QB, but the CB did recognize that the WR took off, so he pursued like mad, but the Pearland WR had a step on him....TD!!! ;D

EagleEyes Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Yeah all that national ranking not sure who comes up with that or who ranks them, seriously doubt there able to watch all those teams play and make a good decision. I don't buy that much into also for the fact they have private schools in that ranking where they can go out and recruit. I believe it's what teams and coaches have done in the past. For instance I believe Trinity was back to back state champs and the head coach had won a couple of state championships at Commerce (for sure one maybe more than 2) before. So who knows? For Pearland they are good and have good size, (OL was massive, some of those guys were 6'5, 6'6 range) went to the Katy and Pearland game this year and either team could have won that day. Pearland made plays when they had too. Congrats to Pearland.
Klein Bearkats Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Great Play! A question for you NCAA rules experts out there, why wasn't this play flagged? If I recall, my son's team ran a similar play but was penalized for Unsportsmanlike Conduct. When we did the research we found a Section in the NCAA rule book call "Noncontact Fouls" "Unfair Tactics" - Article 2 which delineated several scenarios similar to the Pearland play. All the scenarios had the same basic underlying theme of intent to deceive. It certainly appeard Pearland's intent was to deceive, but maybe it was legal.
