HJ2012 Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 oh, well any updates? Lumberton looked pretty sloppy in HJ's tourney, but the game against EC i think it was, was pretty close.
Guest twag11 Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Kelly wins don't remember exact score but it was about 61 to 54
bmtcpa87 Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Kelly played really well again today and won 71-62. Kelly was up 33-29 at the half and extended the lead to 12 or 13 in the 3rd. Lumberton cut it to 6 in the 4th, but Kelly won it at the line the last two minutes. Good win for the Bulldogs. Kelly is off until after Christmas when they play in the Woodville tournament Monday.

DVILLE-GORILLA Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Congrats Kelly. You guys are playing some pretty good ball.
Coach Schrapps Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 I think one of the biggest differences for this years team is the fact that they has gotten to play games. They had one tournament cancelled and got snowed out of Huntington last year. They have already played 23 games this year when last year they barely Played that Many all season. They are really on a nice run headed into district.
no-look Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 I watched the Kelly- Crockett game at Huntington this year. Kelly played them close....they look a lot better this year.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Maybe its the coaching at Kelly ;D
bmtcpa87 Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Last year we started a freshman, a sophomore, two juniors and a senior most of the time. Believe it or not the only one with varsity experience was the sophomore. This year we start 4 seniors and a sophomore. They all played varsity last year except one and that experience from last year makes a big difference. Also this year our strength is our outside shooting and coach is letting them get the ball up the court, look for the open man and take the 3 if it's there. We take a lot of 3's and we make a lot of 3's most of the time. We also got a new player eligible at the Christmas break that has helped our depth a little. He's only about 6'1" but he is a quick jumber and has really helped our inside game. He rebounded well and blocked 3 or 4 shots against Lumberton. But for anyone who has seen the teams in our district, size matters. It's going to be really tough going up against St. Thomas and St. Pius with the size advantage they will have inside. Hopefully our hot shooting as of late continues into district play.
