For the past eight or nine years we have stayed at the Double Tree Club across from the drum for around 200. a night.....wouldn't give us reservations early this year. They will now gaurantee us one room for 425. a night....talk about a gouge!.....300. a night is as good as we can find within walking distance......The reason for the high price is of course the tourney....a non eventful weekend is about half price.....thieves!....................you guys that go, where do you stay and how do you get back and fourth?

I usually stay at the Sheraton at the crossroads of 290 and 35. It's not that much of a drive and with my media credentials I am able to park in the media lot which is the only lot the Drum has on property.

I am sorry, but you will never see me pay $200-$400 a night just to be able to walk across the highway. The 5 minute drive and parking is not that bad and it's definitely not bad enough for me to spend $1200 or more to stay for 4 nights.

I get the Sheraton for $80 a night.

There are a ton of motels out by the airport on Ben White Blvd that are very reasonable. You can cut up Riverside and go in the backway to the drum. The parking garages are the best bet to park.I have stayed at the DoubleTree several times but they are overpriced now on regular days much less when they have an event going on.Garmin can get ya there or you can grab a cab for about what a parking pass will run ya.

the Brazos Garage is a very short walk if you stay out and drive in for the games.
Can you get a three day parking pass and how expensive?
There is a garage behind the football stadium and a lot over there that is very minimal if not free.

I get the Sheraton off of Expedia or Priceline

Why are conducting such a phoney conversation? I happen to know that you stay at the Presidential Suite on all of your travels and  take a limousine back and forth to the games.

May just have to camp out down sisth street... ;D

I am shocked to know that an aristocrat would consider becoming a street person.  Sets a bad example for all aspiring Red Devils.
Thats where we usually wind up by the end of the season.  ;D

Just notify a liberal politician in Austin (lord knows there are plenty) and I am sure they will create an ordinance that will allow you to park wherever and whenever you wish.

My dad (may he rest in peace) started taking me when I was 7 years old (1972 was my first year). I have not missed a year since. 2011 will make 40 straight state tourneys for me. My dad made 50 straight a few years ago before he got too sick to go.

I really love going and will miss very dearly not being able to have my dad along. The last few years was just not the same at the state tourney without him there.

    • I too, wish #15 was healthy and playing.  And also another RB (can't recall the #), who went down in the first game of the season. But, some others have stepped up and are hard runners.  I'm really looking forward to watching this game.
    • Still, from what little I saw, it should have been a much closer game.  WOS was missing some fundamentals on defense, and a lack of imaginative play calling on offense.  Just my opinion as an objective observer on Texan Live, which was horrible btw, but that's another story.
    • Either way,one game lead in the series. I rely to much on word of mouth
    • West Orange Stark has been a powerhouse since I csn remember. At some point, your bound to fall off to some degree. Alabama has 3 or 4 loses this season. Who would have thought? Has Orange lost kids to LCM or even Orangefield?
    • Interesting matchup this Friday. Both teams have very good offensive and defensive lines, which will make this game interesting. Having watched Texas High all season, they have a wide open offense with very good skill players. If you look at their stats they run the ball 57% of the time and pass 43% of the time. Personally, that is a bit deceiving, as most of their games have seen reserves running the ball in the 4th quarter. I would estimate the primary offense is 50/50. Through 12 games they have run for 3,224 yds (48tds) and passed for 2,894 yds (32 yds). Potter, the Tiger QB, has been very efficient with a 69% completion rate and 1 interception (which came from a tipped pass). The passing is distributed primarily to 4 receivers…. Ball (865), Wrightner (811), Montgomery (532), & Pilgreen (392). The rushing comes from 3 running backs … Johnson (1,432), Ball (768) & Moore (716).  The Tiger defense is solid and very quick.    Hope #15 is healthy enough to play. He is a test for any defense. I was concerned about the Nederland RB, but felt Texas High did a good job containing him. I wish this game was in the afternoon, as Nachitoches is having their Festival of Lights and their will not be any rooms in the inns and restaurants will be full so plan accordingly. PNG are state champions until someone knocks them off, so I extend the Indians the respect they deserve. Pulling for the Tigers.
