wOUTanEXCUSE Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Short answer.. no. long answer noooooooooooooooo...(d1).. juco etc... ya maybe a handful, haven't seen alot of "special" talent in the area. :-\
ambrose23 Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 special talent like "ky" or "tx" special.. yes i do believe there are a select few in the area tht could go mid major d1. but from a fans perspective of all the kids i have seen this yr i would say its stalworth hands down..
whsalum Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Compare them to some of the really good local players from the past several years.Donahoe was one of the few in recent years who had the opportunity to go mid major and none of these kids are close to him.JCovan is the only one that comes to mind recently who went major D1 and we all know he was in a class by himself talent wise when you look at kids from here locally.
PrettyBoi10 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 DC STALLWORTH will play D-1 this isn't football D-1 is d-1 come MARCH he's waying his option's rite now an enjoy's being wooed by the college coaches C-USA schools are very intrested
team first Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 I agree mayor. To sign a D-1 scholarship in basketball means you have to be proven. Meaning you have to be really good in High School. Really good. In other sports a D-1 scholarship can be based on potential only. Schools look at the size and speed of a kid, and they think they can make him a player. With this being said, a kid that gets this attention may have done nothing at all at the h.s. level. Seen it a number of times. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it does not. Bottom line, big time schools, get big time players that are proven, the majority of the time! Like the ole story goes, little Johnny got a great work ehtic, big heart, big dreams. Big Johnny got some Cheetos and an X-Box.
whsalum Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Folks to play big time D-1 basketball you have to have the complete package. There is nothing wrong with playing at a mid major.Simple fact is most our great local players are gonna be mid major prospects. Our very good local players will be JUCO or D-3 players. Our good players who put up good distict numbers for a couple of years better be saving their money if they are going to college.DC is a great local player but will have a few things he will have to improve on to be a mid major player at the position he will be required to play.To play guard at the mid major level you have to have excellent ball handling skills and shooting and the biggest thing folks overlook is defense and STRENGTH.The guys that play defense on the perimeter at mid major schools are stout kids.
Head Coach Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Some people on this board need to watch some AAU games in the summer. Especially the ones in Houston/Pearland. I guarantee you that nobody here will make themselves look like a standout player.
Head Coach Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 And after you watch those games, those some people will not say half the things they say on this board.
PrettyBoi10 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 what ppl don't realize is that DC,Kristen Smith,Prubhomme all played on the same AAU team an got to the semi's in vegas this summer an always placed in every tourney
BLUEDOVE3 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010
what ppl don't realize is that DC,Kristen Smith,Prubhomme all played on the same AAU team an got to the semi's in vegas this summer an always placed in every tourney
There are different levels of summer ball, even in Vegas. It depends on the tourney as to the competition faced.
